What we practice grows. Without awareness we tend to react to what is happening around us. We are like a pinball machine pinging up and down at the mercy of what comes our way. Developing awareness through mindfulness practice allows us a choice. Do we want to react with anger, fear, frustration, overwhelm, or is there another way to respond? Can I practice joy regardless of the situation? Can I practice love regardless of the circumstances? Can I be at peace with things as they are, even if I don't want them to be that way? Practicing mindfulness allows us to choose what we want to grow.
