Acknowledgement & Month’s Mind Mass Details of the late
Rita McLaughlin, 72 Croaghan Heights, Lifford.
Months Mind Mass: Saturday February 28th, at 7.30pm in St Eunans Church Raphoe.
We the family of Rita McLaughlin wish to express our sincere heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to everyone who sympathised with us following her recent passing. We are beyond grateful to each and every one of you who took the time to offer your condolences by coming to our home, telephoning, sending messages or cards, lit candles and to those who simply held us in your thoughts and prayers. You will never understand the impact you have had on our family and Mammy would have been so touched.
To our extended Porter and McLaughlin families who continue to support us through good and bad times, family is everything and we are so grateful to have you all.
Our relatives, friends, neighbours and local businesses who supported us in countless ways, from providing food and practical help to simply being there with a kind word or a shoulder to lean on.
A special thank you to our wonderful neighbours of Croaghan Heights, past and present, who have supported us through Mums illness, wake, funeral and beyond. You all hold a special place in our hearts, your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
To Fr McCaughey who guided us through the wake and allowed us to truly reflect the person that Mum was in a beautiful funeral Mass. To Amy Meehan who provided the most beautiful music that touched every person in attendance, words cannot convey how thankful we are to you.
A special word of thanks to those who contributed so meaningfully to Mum’s funeral mass: to Mum’s sisters for their beautiful presentation of the symbols that captured her life and personality so well, to Eamon and Shannon who shared the readings, Claire, Simon and Eugene for the prayers of the faithful, Mums sisters in law for the offertory procession, and to Paul for the heartfelt tribute and eulogy that captured her spirit so perfectly.
To the members of the 28 inf Battalion Association who provided the guard of honour at the church, this meant so much to us as a family. To everyone who took the time to attend the Mass and for those that travelled to be with us, we appreciate you so much.
It was so comforting to see so many friends waiting to welcome Mum as we travelled through Moville and to then be greeted by so many familiar faces in Ballybrack really touched our hearts.
A special word of thanks to Fr Colm who welcomed us warmly and facilitated a lovely burial at Ballybrack to honour Mums wishes.
We would especially like to thank all the medical staff who treated, helped and supported Mum through her illness. A special thank you to the Oncology Team at The North West Cancer Centre and Ward 50 in Altnagelvin who under the direction of the amazing Dr Malek ensured that Mum received the very best care that they could offer. To the Cancer Nurses Roisin Roddy and Anne Marie Crossan who supported in ways that went above and beyond, you are such special people and we can’t thank you enough.
The gratitude that we wish to express to the team at Donegal Hospice is beyond words. Every person we encountered from cleaning staff, kitchen staff, admin and medical staff treated us all with such compassion and kindness at every interaction. You are angels on earth and we can’t convey to you how comfortable and safe you made Mum feel in those final days and hours. Thank you to our relatives and friends who have made donations to Donegal Hospice, this service it a lifeline for families in their darkest hour and one we will champion in future.
A very special thank you to Ann Dolan and Yvonne Harte for their kindness. Your care in ensuring Mum’s hair, makeup, and nails were perfect allowed us to see her as her beautiful, elegant self one last time, and for that, we are forever grateful.
Finally, our sincere thanks to Michael and Caroline Kelly and all at Kelly’s Funeral Directors, Raphoe, for their exceptional care and professionalism. Your attention to detail and gentle guidance were a great comfort to us.
With kindest regards and warmest thanks, Ian, Stephen, Carina and Daniel (McLaughlin).
