Happy World Down Syndrome Day! 🧦🥰

These are chromosomes. The one circled is chromosome 21 - notice there are 3 copies of this chromosome. This is Trisomy 21 also known as Down Syndrome. You and I have 2 copies of chromosome 21, people with Down Syndrome have 3 copies.

The chromosomes look like socks right? This is where the idea of ‘Rock your Socks’ for World Down Syndrome Day came from.

Today, on the 21st March, World Down Syndrome Day, we celebrate and raise awareness of Down Syndrome by wearing our loudest, brightest, funkiest, mismatched socks.

The reason World Down Syndrome Day is on 21st March - 21:3 (chromosome 21, 3 copies = 21st day of the 3rd month of the year)

- Your child's age/DOB
