You may be eager for labor to begin. If your care provider is offering induction remember to ask questions, use BRAIN to make informed decisions and decide what is best for you and your baby. There are a few things you can do at home that may gently encourage baby's exit. Taking gentle walks: Being upright and moving encourages baby to move further down and put pressure on your cervix to get things moving along. Stimulating your ni***es: Ni**le stimulation spurs the release of oxytocin, which can stimulate contractions. (You can massage your breasts, apply warm compresses, try hand expression, or enlist your partner to help.) Having s*x: Prostaglandins in semen can encourage labor. Oxytocin release during or**sm can help coax baby out too. 'Take evening primrose oil: Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) oil contains linolenic acid, which may stimulate the production of prostaglandins. While scientific evidence to support this is in short supply, it appears to be safe, but talk to your provider before starting this supplement.
