5 Facts about Optomap - our advanced eye examination option! Read on. PRSI and Medical Card accepted for standard eye examinations.

1. Development of Optomap was borne from tragedy; Douglas Anderson’s 5 year old son went blind in one eye as a result of an undetected retinal detachment.

2. Optomap captures 82% of the retina in a single shot.

3. Optomap often eliminates the need for pupil dilation.

4. Optomap can detect early signs of systemic diseases outside of the eye; e.g cancer, hypertension or cardiovascular disease.

5. Optomap uses dual laser technology; a green laser to view the upper layers of the retina and a red laser to see deeper into the layer underneath.

I’m always on the hunt for great brands to introduce into Southgate Vision Opticians and when I saw Max & Co (little sister to MaxMara) I immediately loved a lot of the frames and tried on every single one of the collection.

They’re very striking, yet soft, they combine great shapes, colours and materials that create very wearable and fresh looking frames.

Two were snapped up today without ever making them onto the shelf; that tells me everything I need to know!

We’re delighted with ourselves 😍 and I think you will be too!!

Finally getting around to putting together this quick snapshot of our visit to Mulberry on Duke Street in Dublin 2. It was wonderful getting to meet two other independent Practice owners who love the brand as much as we do! Thanks to Rachel, Cynthia and Diana who looked after us in store, you’re superb brand representatives. Thanks also to and for inviting us. This is a brand going from strength to strength.

Excited for an afternoon immersing ourselves in all things Mulberry and discovering more about this hugely iconic brand. Fun fact; the frame I’m wearing is originally a Mulberry sunglass! When I first laid on it I knew it would look fabulous as an ophthalmic frame. To this day, it’s one of my absolute favourite pair of glasses.
