Don’t underestimate incline walking 💪

Incline walking burned 40% of calories from fat compared to just 33% from running, even when total calories burned were the same. That means more fat used for fuel, less glycogen depletion, and better muscle preservation.

Published in the International Journal of Exercise Science, the study matched incline walking and running sessions for calorie burn, then measured fuel usage. Walking uphill shifted the body toward significantly higher fat oxidation, giving it a clear metabolic advantage for those chasing fat loss without sacrificing muscle.

When it comes to body composition, it’s not just about how many calories you burn, it’s where those calories come from.

Client progress:

Gareth has been receiving online coaching on and off for 12 months and during this time has gotten super results.

Being tall and lean he had previously struggled to pack on muscle while staying lean and with the proper tools and guidance he was able to achieve his goals.

Gareth has been disciplined and listened to everything throughout, even when he was not seeing the results quickly. Patience and consistency is key.

Here's what Gareth had to say:

"" I was really struggling to reach my fitness goals before working with Ant, but his knowledge and guidance completely turned things around for me! He's motivating, professional, and knows how to get results. I can't recommend him enough. "

Well done

DM if you need a kick in the ass! hahaha 🤣

Do you suffer from muscle cramps?

Usually this is a sign of dehydration , so if water isn't fixing the issue , your body is lacking in certain vitamins and minerals.

Here are a few foods to pack into your diet if you are struggling:

1. Sweet potato 🥔. As well as being tasty and a handy way to get carbs in, it's full of calcium and magnesium which helps relax the muscles when fatigued.

2. Eat more greens. Broccoli 🥦 spinach and asparagus are great. Adding these instead of other veggies will add more calcium and magnesium also. The leader the better!

3. Orange juice / oranges/ bananas. Full of potassium and also contribute to heart health

4. Watermelon 🍉. So juicy and thirsty quenching is perfect for rehydration of the muscles.

5. Avocado 🥑 is full of potassium. Potassium is an essential mineral and electrolyte that not only helps with spasms but regulates fluid and is also great for reducing blood pressure.

6. Tomatoes 🍅. Again packed with potassium. Slide into your salad or sandwich for extra taste.

7. Milk. Full of protein, calcium which helps with muscle tissue repair.

8. Nuts & seeds . Another great source of magnesium which helps relax the muscles and the brain.

7 Tips for better gut health:

Your gut health plays a crucial role in digestion, immune function, and even mental well-being. A balanced gut microbiome can improve overall health and energy levels. Here are six tips to support a healthier gut:

1. Eat More Fibre-Rich Foods
Fibre acts as food for your gut bacteria, promoting their growth and diversity. Include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and nuts in your diet for a well-rounded fibre intake.

2. Incorporate Fermented Foods
Fermented foods such as yoghurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, and miso contain probiotics that introduce beneficial bacteria into your gut, improving digestion and gut flora balance.

3. Stay Hydrated
Water is essential for digestion and helps maintain the mucosal lining of your intestines. Aim to drink at least 2 litres of water daily to support gut function and overall hydration.

4. Manage Stress
Chronic stress can negatively impact your gut health, leading to digestive issues. Engage in stress-relieving activities such as meditation, exercise, deep breathing, or spending time in nature to maintain a balanced gut.

5. Get Enough Sleep
Poor sleep can disrupt gut bacteria and contribute to digestive problems. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to support optimal gut health and overall well-being.

6. Avoid Overuse of Antibiotics
While antibiotics are necessary in some cases, overuse can harm your gut microbiome by eliminating beneficial bacteria. Only take antibiotics when prescribed and consider probiotics to help restore gut balance afterward.

7. Take a Probiotic Supplement
Taking a broad-spectrum probiotic supports gut health by replenishing beneficial bacteria, enhancing digestion, boosting immunity, and restoring microbiome balance, especially after antibiotics or dietary imbalances.
