The way I look at it, every food you eat and drink has a function. And that function isn’t always the providing nutrients.

For example: cake doesn’t provide many essential vitamins and minerals, but I’d be very disappointed if no one organized a cake for my birthday party πŸ₯³

Here are a few more examples of functions foods can have:

🍳 Breakfast gives you energy to get through the morning.

πŸ₯— Salad dressing helps you eat more veg.

🍞 Wholegrain bread helps keep your bowels moving.

β˜•οΈ Coffee gives you an excuse to gossip with your colleagues.

πŸŽ‚ Cake brings people together for celebrations.

πŸ₯€ Sports drinks help you survive a hangover.

🍨 Cookie dough ice cream comforts you when your heart is broken.

All these different functions is why I don’t label foods as β€œgood” or β€œbad”.

Instead, think about what function each food is providing and how you could make changes to what you eat to better serve your nutrition needs and goals.

πŸ’¦ Spray oils are something I use daily for almost every meal I cook, so I’ve been loving experimenting with the different varieties Sussed sent me. I can’t wait to share some recipes with you all!

πŸ’› The nutrition nerd in me is particularly excited by the healthy heart plus oil because it has added algae oil for omega-3.

πŸ₯œ Rekindled my love for peanut butter and jelly oats
πŸ’§ Consistently drinking more than 2L of water daily
πŸ₯€ no fizzy drinks this week and caffeine intake is definitely decreasing

πŸ” Increasing my water intake and keeping a consistent bedtime routine has been more challenging.
