I have worked in several eye care facilities, ranging from retail optical practice to hospital services for over 10 years. It may be interesting to state that I had successfully completed University research studies and literature reviews on specific aspect of diabetes, for example diabetic retinopathy, weight gain following smoking cessation in T2DM, Impact of sedentary lifestyle in diabetes complications, relevance of physical activity in diabetes and cardiovascular management, effect of low carb or ketogenic diet in T2DM Management and many others. I am passionate about helping the World and Africa reduce the global burden of diabetes complication, through latest evidence based research. I have outstanding interest in getting involved in diabetes research and highest level of clinical optometry practice available in the management of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic eye disease.

Understanding Keratoglobus: Causes and Treatment Options

Keratoglobus is a noninflammatory cornea ectasia characterised by diffuse protrusion and thinning of the cornea. The etiology of Keratoglobus is not yet established, however some investigation have linked eye condition to defect in cornea collagen synthesis and risk factors linked to ehlers danlos VI syndrome, leber congenital amaurosis and blue sclera syndrome. Specialized eye care services are usually rendered by specialised eye care practitioners to ensure vision stability; Procedures may include traditional keratoplasty, lamellar keratoplasty among others, however prognoses is low, while early detection and management is appropriate. The widespread belief that high cholesterol causes heart disease is a false narrative.

Cholesterol is vital for hormone production, brain health, and cell membrane integrity.

Both LDL and HDL cholesterol are simply exchangers—they shuttle fats, including cholesterol, back and forth in your body. There is nothing inherently “good” or “bad” about them.

And the truth is that 50% of people who suffer heart attacks have normal or low cholesterol.

The majority of heart attacks and strokes are actually caused by blood clots, so why are we getting side tracked by cholesterol levels?
