Clondalkin Community Health Initiative was set-up in March 2001. The project aims to increase awareness of health issues in Clondalkin, to deliver health programmes, to train local people as trainers and to develop a local health alliance to compliment the delivery of public health services in the area. The initiative sets out to address health inequalities and inequity of access to health services in Clondalkin, through the use of community development approaches and principles. We carry out our work by providing the following programme of activities through the year:
Ante-natal and post-natal activities. These include Baby Massage, Mum and Baby Yoga, Mum and Baby Music, Pediatric First Aid, Weaning Workshop. We do this by supporting the Food and Health Project that is funded and supported by the Health Promotion Service. This project includes three programmes - Healthy Food Made Easy(6 sessions), Cool Dudes(5 sessions for 8 - 13 yr olds ) and Heart Health (3 sessions)
