Let's start by what it's not. It's not calorie counting, restriction or over-exercising. It's not feeling hungry, miserable and like you can't ever have a treat again.

I don’t recognise my own body

This is what Laura said to me when we first met. In fact, she said she was horrified by her appearance, which just stopped me in my tracks. And I knew we had work to do. I firmly believe nobody should feel this way about themselves.

After doing a detailed analysis of her diet and lifestyle, I created a bespoke plan to balance her blood sugar levels, hormones and cravings. We worked on her stress levels (which were through the roof) and on some mindset blocks and beliefs that were keeping her stuck in this vicious cycle of overeating – feeling bad – overeating.

It took time, but after 4 weeks she announced, ‘I feel a shift…something has changed’. Her energy increased and she started doing more exercise. She didn’t have the same cravings as before and finally the lbs started to come off.

She now has the skills to keep going in a healthy and sustainable manner. She now looks at ‘health’ differently, recognising that being pre-diabetic was a pretty big deal and that getting her insulin levels in check and her blood sugar scores down are as big a win as losing weight on the scales.

As a Nutrition & Lifestyle coach I take a holistic approach to working with women to balance their hormones and help them reach their happy, healthy weight.

Menopause is so much more than hot flushes!

Can’t remember the last time you slept 8 hours?
Are you putting on weight and can’t work out why?

Yeah, this was me especially the last one…only 4 years ago I didn’t have any idea that I was in perimenopause and that all these were symptoms of the hormonal changes taking place in my body. That’s what set me on the journey to uncover what was happening and to study nutrition.

Did you know that there are 34 recognised symptoms of peri/menopause? And that they can start as early as in your late 30’s or early 40’s? And up to 80% of women will experience some symptoms.

FREE Guide - 6 ways to avoid holiday weight gain and still have ice-cream!

Who doesn’t love a good holiday? Whether it’s a beachy escape, a trip to the slopes or a city break, it’s a chance to rest and reset, to destress and to down tools.

Taking time off to relax is an important part of wellness – almost as much as all the other things that contribute to a healthy, happy life like eating well and moving your body.

If there is a downside, it’s that eating well can quickly get forgotten and a few weeks of indulgence can easily turn into months if you’re the kind of person who finds it hard to get back on track afterwards.

And as I’m learning, once we hit peri/menopause, it’s not as easy to get back on track – for a whole host of reasons, from hormone imbalance to sore joints that prevent us from getting back into exercise the way we would have before.

So with the mindset of prevention is better than cure, I decided to create a quick guide to eating well on holidays so you don’t have to do a crash diet when you get home (that’s one sure way to kill the holiday buzz!)

Hi again! I’m just back from 2 weeks holidays in France and I must admit it’s taken me a few days to readjust to normal life…I’m already missing my bike that brought me from beach to bar most days 🚴‍♀️

As it feels like an age since I’ve posted, I’d like to reintroduce myself and tell you a few things about me that you may or may not know.

What I’m watching on TV: Only Murders in the Building (love it!)

What I’m reading: I’m pretty obsessed with health and wellness books, so I forced myself to read a few novels on holiday. I’m finishing The Maid right now – a quirky, easy read.

Favourite cuisine: Italian (pasta and red wine, marriage made in heaven!) 🍷

What’s always in my cupboard/fridge: Peanut Butter, Oat Cakes, Hummus and Kale (I know, but you do grow to love it).

Song that makes me spontaneously dance in my kitchen: New Radicals, You Get What You Give (old school but still great).

What I do: I’m a nutrition and lifestyle coach helping women in their 40s and 50s shift stubborn belly fat and balance their hormones without restriction, calorie counting or spending hours in the gym.

What I love most about my job: Seeing the transformation in women I work with – not just physically, but also with their confidence, renewed energy and sense of purpose. It’s so rewarding.

Did you know that there are 56 different ways of describing sugar on food labels? Some of them even sound like drugs – Florida crystals anyone?

In a 2013 study, researchers found that – in rats – Oreo cookies were just as addictive as co***ne. (We don’t know if the rats ate the creamy filling first!.)

Chances are that, even if you think you are being ‘good’ most of the time, you are hooked as most low-fat/low-cal foods are full of sugar.
