We always love our weekly pet therapy visits, and this week we were delighted to welcome our special girl, Orlaith, to spend time with our residents. 🐶💛

🎂 Happy Birthday, Edie 🎂

Today, December 18th, our wonderful resident Edie celebrated her birthday at Terenure Nursing Home 🎈❤️

She was inundated with gifts and cards from her family and friends, making her day extra special 🎁💖
And a huge thank you to Chef Susan, who whipped up a delicious Santa cake especially for our birthday gir 🎅🍰

🎄We had a wonderful time celebrating our recent Christmas party here at Terenure, filled with festive cheer, music and great company.

Santy treated us to all the classic Christmas hits and delighted everyone by handing out presents to all our residents.

The celebrations continued with a beautiful Christmas lunch for our residents, followed by delicious canapés enjoyed by our guests. It was a truly special day for all.

Terenure Nursing Home – Christmas Art with Our Residents 🎄

Our residents have been getting into the festive spirit with a lovely Christmas art session!

Rose, Anne, Phil, and Alan spent the afternoon painting Christmas decorations — adding colour, creativity, and plenty of cheer to the home. Their beautiful work is already bringing a warm festive feeling to our Christmas displays.

Terenure Nursing Home – Tea Party Highlights from Last Month ☕

Last month, our residents enjoyed a gorgeous Tea Party filled with laughter, chats, and plenty of sweet treats. It was a lovely chance for everyone to relax together and soak up the warm, homely atmosphere.

From freshly brewed tea to delicious bakes, every moment was enjoyed — and the smiles say it all! 💛

🕊 Creating a Peace Symbol at Terenure Nursing Home 🕊️

Our residents spent a lovely afternoon crafting a Peace Symbol, weaving string and decorating with colourful buttons.

On Thursday, November 27th, we gathered in Terenure Nursing Home for a very special Remembrance Mass, attended by our Residents, Staff, and the families of Residents who passed away during the past year. It was a beautiful and deeply meaningful service, offering a moment to reflect, remember, and cherish those no longer with us.

A sincere thank you to Father Biju Ignatius for celebrating the Mass, and to our dedicated team for all their work in preparing the service and welcoming families.

Pictured with Fr. Biju are Rebecca and Ulrich, two of our wonderful staff members — with Ulrich being one of our Activities Coordinators.

And a special thank you to Chef Susan for providing the delicious baked treats enjoyed by all afterward.

Today, Wednesday 27th November, at 3pm, we will gather in Terenure Nursing Home for a special Remembrance Service honouring all those we have lost over the past year — our Residents, and the beloved family members and friends of our Residents and staff.🙏

November is a month of remembrance, a time when we pause to reflect, give thanks, and hold in our hearts the memories of those who are no longer with us. This afternoon’s ceremony will offer space for quiet reflection, prayer, and togetherness as we remember each person with love and dignity.🙏

We warmly welcome families and staff to join us as we celebrate the lives that touched our community so deeply.
May their memories continue to be a blessing. 🤍🕯️

Terenure Nursing Home – Music with Mick 🎶

Last Monday, Mick filled the home with great music and plenty of smiles.

Ida was up dancing in the first two photos, while Eithne, Rose, and Anne enjoyed singing along in the third. Phil and Alan also joined Mick for a lovely sing-along, and Paddy even received his very own serenade.

It was a warm, joyful afternoon that lifted everyone’s spirits — thank you, Mick, for bringing such wonderful energy to our residents! ❤️

Terenure Nursing Home is a part of Grace Healthcare Ireland Nursing Home Group where our motto is “Living life, every day”

Our team are highly trained professionals, as well as caring, compassionate human beings. We understand the tremendous responsibility our residents and their family place in us, which is why every resident receives the highest standard of personal care and attention, 24 hours a day.

We offer a variety of stimulating activities that are critical to the restorative environment of our home. They give residents meaning and purpose in their days and encourage social engagement, sparking wonderful friendships between residents and staff.

Sharing the care with us

Making the decision that it is time to transition your family member into a nursing home is an incredibly difficult one. We understand the stages of grief and distress that can accompany this period and our skilled, compassionate team will do everything we can to ease the move for you and our new resident.

Our ethos is rooted in caring for individuals, so we recommend sharing the rich detail of your relative’s history and daily lives – their likes and dislikes – their hopes and anxieties. Small things can make a big difference when it comes to helping a resident relax and start to feel at home.

For residents with dementia, rest assured our professional staff is highly experienced in ensuring the safety and comfort of every resident, with tailored activities to suit their needs, and above all, a gentle, understanding approach.

Creating care plans

Every resident is unique – which means our care plans are designed to be individually tailored to their needs. Our team works together across a range of disciplines, and consults closely with residents and family members or concerned friends to make sure their plan is right for them.

We’ll review care plans as needed, and our residents are invited to have an active role in the development of their plan, so they feel comfortable about the agreed approach.

Spiritual care

The spiritual life of our residents is important to us. That’s why we have regular visits from various ministers for group chats or one-on-one guidance and support. We have weekly Mass and Eucharist services, so residents are able to participate in the rituals of their faith.

Where to find us

We’re located in the suburb of Terenure, just south of Harold’s Cross and within Dublin City limits. As a former terminus for city trams, Terenure Cross received a mention in James Joyce’s acclaimed epic, Ulysses. Today’s tram system bypasses the old suburb; however, the numbers 15, 15a and 16 buses, which now travel along the old tram routes, offer a regular service.
