Hi there, welcome to Everyday Wellness! I’m Shalom, the founder of Everyday Wellness. Thanks for checking out my page :-) Are you finding it hard to sleep or concentrate, feeling stressed or overwhelmed, putting everyone's needs before your own or struggling in your relationship or business? Perhaps you or a loved one have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety or addiction. No matter who we are, what business we are in or whether we have been diagnosed with a mental health difficulty or not, we all need to be able to take good care of our mental health and everyday wellness. We need to be able to make sense of our lives, our experiences, our fears and our hopes and dreams. I can help you make sense of your experiences past and present and help you understand your hopes and fears for the future. In doing so you will become more connected to your relationships, your business, your goals and ultimately yourself. By helping people connect with themselves, each other and the world around them I help people develop a deeper, more empowered relationship with their holistic health, dare to believe they are worthy and a future of their making is possible. I have over ten years' experience working in the field of mental health as a Registered Social Worker and Registered Psychotherapist*. I have experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and over forty years' experience living as a Human Being :-) All have been tough, challenging, fun and wonderfully rewarding experiences! My professional experience includes working with individuals, couples, families and groups from diverse social, cultural, economic, political and religious backgrounds. I support people to make sense of how their personal experience is connected to their family experience and the wider, social context. My expertise enables me to create a space with people where they can begin to voice their thoughts, feelings and experiences, learn to deeply listen to themselves and one another, and learn to sit more easily with uncertainty. Crucially, I help people develop or enhance a sense of personal power even in the most challenging of circumstances. But I am not an expert in being you! So I join my personal and professional expertise with your own unique expertise. Together we move forward with our shared wisdom to come to more deeply understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and most importantly, to enable you to make intentional choices about your life that lead to intentional action and an empowered life.
I am especially interested in the mind-body-spirit connection and promote an holistic understanding of wellness. I am always learning more about nutrition and fitness as they play such fundamental roles in our mental wellness. I meditate regularly and have completed the Professional Qualification in the Therapeutic Use of Mindfulness with the Irish Mindfulness Institute. Like everyone, I go through periods when I am better able to balance each aspect of my mind-body-spirit wellness and of course there are periods when I struggle to pay enough attention to each part of my wellness. As a recovering perfectionist I understand all too well the swing between doing it all "perfectly" or slumping into inaction and procrastination while all the time trying to maintain a sense of control, the struggle is real! But, the power and possibility to learn, grow and develop is also absolutely real! The relationship between our mind-body-spirit is personal, complex and full of beautiful potential. For this reason I embrace all aspects of the mind-body-spirit connection in my work with clients as appropriate.
