Sardinia has always been a land of wool.
For centuries, sheep farming shaped not only the island’s economy, but also its rhythms of life, songs, and traditions. Wool was more than a fibre: it was survival, warmth, a connection between land, people, and animals.
With industrialisation, much of this knowledge faded, and for years, Sardinian wool was even discarded as waste. Today, thanks to new generations of makers, artists, and cooperatives, this heritage is being reclaimed — giving value again to local fibres, hand-spinning, and weaving traditions.
In my Mindful Weaving Workshop, we work with natural Sardinian wool. Its texture carries with it the story of resilience, care, and continuity. Each thread on the loom becomes a reminder of how ancient crafts can still shape our present, inviting us to slow down, to reconnect, and to weave our own stories into a wider tradition.
