Your December yoga calendar is here!🌲
For me this time of year is always bustling, and yet the call to reflect is deeply felt. Let's ease into a serene December together with practices that soften the edges, soothe the nervous system, and take you to new depths while doing less.
This month: RESTORE
With mindfulness and breath awareness, we will explore what it truly means to rest. Restore your energy and balance your emotions with asana, then invite in a little introspection. Think about preparing the body for meditation– be intentional with how you move so that you can rest into sacred stillness.
In Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, pratyahara (the fifth limb of yoga) refers to turning the senses inward, withdrawing attention from external stimulation to rest in inner quiet. This is the philosophical root of restorative yoga. True restoration begins when we release our attachment to doing, achieving, or performing, and simply rest in being.
Maybe go the extra mile and make the mat your sanctuary: turn the lighting down, gather some blankets and pillows, light a few candles or incense. Consecrate your space with flowers. This is your time to care for you, so I encourage you to create space for reflection and make this month of practice feel special in your own way.
