Say hello to Kate, our Director of Operations!
We sat down with Kate to learn more about her impressive background and hear what excites her most about the future of the eyecare industry.

How would you describe your role at Ocumetra?
As Director of Operations at Ocumetra, I’m essentially the air-traffic controller: making sure all the planes - product, HR, regulatory, customer support, and operations - take off, land, and don’t collide. My job is to keep the company flying smoothly while we head towards new horizons.
What is your clinical background?
I’m a medical doctor with a PhD focused on nutritional therapies for glaucoma. Rather than going into clinical practice, I moved into research and was then happily absorbed by the medtech industry, which I’ve found endlessly fascinating ever since.
What first drew you to the industry?
I’ve always had a genuine passion for vision and the huge role it plays in our lives - from learning and exploration to creativity and art. Because vision has such a profound impact on quality of life, working to prevent avoidable vision loss felt like a very natural and meaningful path for me.
What keeps you motivated in the industry day-to-day?
I’m motivated by seeing tangible impact. For us, that often comes from speaking with eyecare professionals and hearing how our products make their work easier or more effective. I’m also constantly energised by the pace of innovation in healthcare and the sense that we’re always on the edge of what’s coming next.
What excites you most about where the industry is heading?
The potential of AI is incredibly exciting - from AI-powered diagnostics to smarter clinical workflows and more personalised patient care.
