A full postural assessment and consultation will indicate areas of dysfunction and/or tension that if left can begin to accumulate into injury. The aims of the treatments include:
Injury prevention
Increased range of motion
Release of tension and stress
Reduction of scar tissue
Reduction of muscle stiffness
Increased injury recovery process
Increased blood circulation and lymphatic flow
Restoration of muscle length and balance
Improvement of posture
Improvement of flexibility

The first session includes a full postural and range of motion assessment. A variety of muscles and muscle groups will be tested and we will discuss any areas of pain or discomfort. The treatment will then be focused on these areas to provide the client with some relief of restriction and/or pain. I am certified in Remedial/Sports Massage, Myofascial Cupping, Electro Dry Needling, Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy, IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization), Kinesio Taping

Headaches and migraines don’t always start in your head.

Subtle restrictions in your joints, or muscles can change how your body moves, affecting blood flow, nerve signalling, and muscular tension - all of which can trigger pain over time.
We assess your body as a connected system, looking for restrictions and imbalances that may contribute to headaches. Gentle, hands-on techniques aim to restore movement, improve circulation, and ease strain - helping your body function more efficiently so you can get back to thinking clearly.

UNDERSTANDING INFLAMMATION

Inflammation is the body’s natural protection and healing response. When you’re injured, stressed, overworked, or fighting off illness, your immune system sends blood, oxygen, and healing cells to the affected area. This process helps repair tissue and keep you safe.

There are two types of inflammation:
👉 Acute inflammation
It shows up as redness, warmth, swelling, or soreness after an injury, workout, or illness. It’s a sign your body is doing its job.

👉 Chronic inflammation
This happens when the body stays in “alert mode” too long. Instead of healing, inflammation lingers and can lead to ongoing pain, stiffness, fatigue, headaches, joint issues, muscle tightness, and slower recovery.

Common contributors to chronic inflammation include:
• Stress and poor sleep
• Repetitive movements or poor posture
• Old injuries
• Dehydration
• Sedentary lifestyle or overuse
• Highly processed foods

How inflammation may show up in daily life:
• Waking up stiff or sore
• Muscles that feel tight or achy
• Joint discomfort
• Reduced range of motion
• Feeling run down or inflamed “for no clear reason”

What helps manage inflammation:
✔️ Consistent movement and stretching
✔️ Hydration
✔️ Quality sleep
✔️ Stress management
✔️ Manual Bodywork

Inflammation isn’t the enemy, it’s information. When we understand it, we can support the body instead of fighting it.

This anatomical illustration depicts a normal lumbar spine segment (left) compared to a herniated disc (right).

The image highlights the intervertebral disc and vertebra, illustrating how disc herniation can compress the spinal nerve, commonly leading to sciatica, a painful condition caused by irritation, inflammation, or compression of the sciatic nerve.

If you are suffering from sciatica or any sort of disc condition we can help you with your pain .

🚩 What sciatica really is and its warning signs (red flags):

Sciatica is pain radiating along the sciatic nerve from the lower back through the hips and down each leg, typically caused by a pinched nerve, such as from a herniated disc. Common symptoms include sharp, burning, or shooting pain, often on one side, along with numbness or tingling (paresthesia). Warning signs requiring immediate medical attention include severe leg weakness, loss of bladder/bowel control, or numbness in the saddle area.

➡️ Key Aspects of Sciatica

• Usage/Symptoms: Pain often starts in the lower back/buttocks and radiates down the leg. It is frequently described as an electric shock, burning, or numbness. Pain may worsen with sneezing, coughing, or sitting for long periods.

• Synonyms/Related Terms: Nerve root compression, lumbar radiculopathy, pinched nerve.

• Causes: Often caused by a herniated disc (slipped disc), spinal stenosis, or spinal injuries.

• Duration: Often acute, starting suddenly, but can become chronic if not managed.

➡️ Warning Signs (Red Flags)🚨🚨

• Seek immediate medical care (Emergency Room) if you experience these symptoms, which may indicate a severe condition like cauda equina syndrome:

• Sudden or severe numbness/weakness: In one or both legs.
Bowel or bladder dysfunction: Incontinence or difficulty urinating.

• Saddle anesthesia: Numbness in the groin, buttocks, or inner thighs.
Pain after a major injury: Such as a car accident.

• Rapidly worsening symptoms: Pain that gets significantly worse over a short period.

Contact a healthcare professional if self-care measures do not improve symptoms within a week, if the pain is severe, or if the pain is worsening.

Common causes include:

•Poor posture (phone or computer use)
•Sleeping position or unsupportive pillows
•Muscle strain or overuse
•Stress and tension
•Cervical Disc Bulge

What it feels like:
• Tight, achy, or sharp pain
• Limited range of motion
• Headaches at the base of the skull

Baxter’s Nerve Entrapment vs. Plantar Fasciitis – Know the Difference 👣

Heel pain is often labeled as plantar fasciitis, but not all heel pain comes from the plantar fascia. One commonly missed cause is Baxter’s nerve entrapment, a condition involving compression of the first branch of the lateral plantar nerve near the medial heel.

Plantar fasciitis is a mechanical overload condition of the plantar fascia, especially at its medial calcaneal attachment. Repetitive tensile stress, prolonged standing, obesity, tight calf muscles, and altered foot biomechanics increase strain on the fascia. Pain is typically worst with the first steps in the morning or after prolonged rest and eases as the fascia warms up.

In contrast, Baxter’s nerve entrapment is primarily a neuropathic problem. The nerve compression leads to burning, tingling, or deep aching pain on the medial heel, often worsening with prolonged activity and sometimes persisting even at rest or at night.
Plantar fasciitis involves fascia overload and micro-tears, whereas Baxter’s nerve entrapment involves nerve compression and irritation, sometimes leading to intrinsic foot muscle weakness.

Clinically, this distinction matters.

Plantar fasciitis responds well to stretching, load modification, orthoses, and fascia-focused interventions.

Baxter’s nerve entrapment may require nerve offloading strategies, correction of medial heel pressure, targeted manual therapy or image-guided interventions.

How do I know how much water to drink?

Half your body weight (in pounds) = ounces of water per day
Example:
If you weigh 160 lbs → aim for about 80 oz of water daily.

Listen to your body
You’re likely drinking enough if:
Your urine is pale yellow (clear = maybe too much, but not likely, dark = too little)
You don’t feel thirsty often
Your mouth and lips aren’t dry
You have steady energy (dehydration can cause fatigue and headaches)

Drink more water if you:
Exercise
Sweat a lot
Drink caffeine or alcohol
Are sick or stressed
Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Proper hydration helps:
Muscles relax more easily
Improve circulation and toxin removal
Prevent cramps and stiffness

You’ve probably heard of the sciatic nerve… but have you ever heard of the cluneal nerves?

These small nerves located near the back of your pelvis can become irritated, causing low back pain that mimics other conditions, which is why cluneal nerve pain often gets overlooked.

This is why a thorough exam matters. Not all low back pain comes from the same source, and finding the true cause leads to the most effective treatment.

Accurate diagnosis means better results, and better results mean getting back to moving and feeling your best.

If your low back pain has been persistent and you tried every modalities. We’re here to help identify the cause and will treat it

Hip flexor pain is rarely just tightness at the front of the hip.

It’s usually caused by overload, prolonged sitting, poor pelvic control or compensation from the low back or surrounding hip muscles. When that happens, the tissue stays guarded and the pain never quite settles.

Hands-on treatment helps release the deeper layers of the hip flexors, reduce protective spasm and restore normal movement through the front of the hip.

Dry needling can be especially effective for calming stubborn trigger points that cause that pinchy, uncomfortable feeling with walking, running or training.

If hip flexor pain keeps flaring up or hasn’t improved despite stretching or rest, it’s often a sign the area needs proper assessment and treatment.

Book in at 0894674402 and we’ll help you get on top of what’s actually driving the pain so you can move comfortably again
