"Not a trend. Not a phase. Not a fad."
Timeless!
Acupuncture is up to 5,000 years old — born from ancient wisdom, guided by the flow of Qi, and rooted in the cycles of nature.
It doesn’t force the body. It listens to it. Gently bringing it back to balance for thousands of years.

Feeling honoured to receive a Highly Commended award at the HPAI Conference last weekend for QIP on post-operative opioid prescribing.

Opioid prescriptions such as OxyContin® are on the rise in Ireland, with hospitals often being the starting point. This trend of prescribing slow release opioids such as OxyContin® can lead to serious issues like Addiction, Overdose and Side effects like sedation or constipation.

By implementing opioid stewardship strategies, we can reduce over-prescribing, prevent harm, standardise safer discharge practices and improve patient outcomes.

Stress is something we all experience, but when it becomes a constant part of our lives, we often don’t realize the toll it takes on our body and mind.

Stress triggers our body’s fight-or-flight response—raising our heart rate, tightening our muscles, and increasing blood pressure. While we’re built to handle short bursts of stress, chronic stress can have serious consequences, including:

✨ Anxiety, depression & insomnia
❤️ High blood pressure, heart disease & strokes
🍽️ Weight gain & digestive issues
🩸 Hormonal imbalances & reproductive issues
💆‍♀️ Skin & hair problems

The good news? Acupuncture can help! It calms the nervous system, reduces stress hormones like cortisol, and boosts feel-good hormones—helping you feel more balanced, relaxed, and resilient.

If stress is running your life, maybe it’s time to try a natural reset. 🌿💆‍♂️

Research has shown that women who receive acupuncture before undergoing IVF have higher success rates. Many IVF clinics recommend acupuncture as a complementary treatment to help reduce stress and improve blood flow to the reproductive organs.

Beyond supporting hormone balance, reducing stress, and enhancing fertility, working with an acupuncturist also provides the opportunity to speak with someone who understands both the scientific and emotional aspects of the fertility journey.

IVF can be both physically and emotionally demanding, so whether or not you choose acupuncture, prioritizing your overall well-being is essential. Simple steps to support your health include getting plenty of rest, maintaining a nutritious diet, staying hydrated, and taking time to relax and engage in activities you enjoy.

Infertility is becoming increasingly common, affecting millions of people worldwide. According to the WHO, an estimated 48 million couples and 186 million individuals struggle with infertility, which is defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months of regular, unprotected in*******se.

Growing research and awareness shows that acupuncture can play a role in enhancing fertility. These approaches can work alongside conventional treatments or serve as an alternative to support conception and a healthy pregnancy.

No matter where you are on your fertility journey, acupuncture can provide valuable support. Acupuncture can be beneficial whether you are just beginning to consider pregnancy and want to regulate your cycle and balance hormones, have been trying for some time and need guidance on potential challenges, or are undergoing fertility treatments and seeking additional support.

One of the main reasons acupuncture is widely recognized as a beneficial treatment for infertility is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. High stress levels can lead to hormonal imbalances, disrupt ovulation, affect the menstrual cycle, and lower s***m count—all of which can contribute to infertility. Acupuncture promotes relaxation by stimulating the release of endorphins and helping to regulate stress hormones in the body.

However, its benefits go beyond stress relief. Acupuncture can also support fertility by:

💛 Regulating the menstrual cycle
💛 Balancing hormone levels
💛 Enhancing blood flow to the ovaries and uterus
💛 Improving the uterine lining for implantation
💛 Boosting s***m count and motility
💛 Addressing underlying conditions such as PCOS and fibroids

Acupuncture can alleviate many pregnancy related ailments including morning sickness, fatigue, headaches/migraines, carpel tunnel syndrome, sciatica/back pain/public pain, depression/anxiety

At the end of pregnancy, acupuncture can also turn a breech baby and prepare the body for labour.

It is best to start preparing the body for labour 4 weeks before the due date (week 36). This makes it a slow and easy process for future mothers and can make childbirth a little easier.
