Today, Highfield Healthcare is highly regarded for the provision of acute mental health treatment and care for adults and older persons with acute, serious and enduring mental health disorders and complex mental health issues associated with neuropsychiatric disorders and dementia. The services at Highfield Healthcare are regulated by HIQA and the Mental Health Commission.

Since September 2025, sustainability at Highfield has evolved from a compliance requirement into an embedded way of thinking – shaping culture, strategy, governance, and day-to-day decision-making. Through structured training and open engagement, teams have built real capability and confidence, strengthening both staff experience and the quality of care delivered to service users 💚

This achievement highlights the value of lifelong learning and accessible education pathways, supported through the SOLAS Skills to Advance Fund 🎓

A very warm welcome to our new first-year DCU Mental Health Nursing students who
joined us this week.

It was a pleasure for our senior management team to meet them as they begin this exciting and meaningful journey in mental health nursing.

We’re proud to support their clinical education here at Highfield Healthcare, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and compassion that define exceptional mental health nurses.

Celebrating 200 Years of Care, Commitment & Community 🕊️

Last Thursday we marked a truly special milestone Highfield Healthcare’s 200th anniversary 💙

To celebrate, we unveiled “Generations of Care”, a stunning new sculpture by John Coll, created from casts of the hands of our staff and family, arranged in the shape of a heart. It symbolises care, connection, and continuity across generations the values at the heart of everything we do.
