Did you know that Ernest Shackleton never achieved a single one of his Antarctic goals — yet is one of the most renowned hero’s of the Golden Age of Exploration.

Here’s why:
Despite failure after failure, Shackleton kept rising, kept leading, and kept pushing toward the edge of the world. His story isn’t one of success — it’s one of endurance.

1. Discovery Expedition (1901–1904): Illness forced him to turn back early and return home in defeat — but it only sharpened his determination.

2. Ni**od Expedition (1907–1909): He led his own team and reached farther south than anyone before, only to stop 97 miles from the Pole to save his men — heartbreakingly close, yet a necessary retreat.

3. Endurance Expedition (1914–1917): His ship was trapped and crushed in the ice, derailing the entire mission — but his leadership saved every life under impossible conditions.

4. Quest Expedition (1921–1922): He set out yet again to chase new horizons, but died aboard the ship before the work could truly begin — ending his quest, but cementing his legend.

So how come a man who never reached his goals became unforgettable.

Because greatness isn’t measured by how many times you win… but by how many times you rise.

So if you’re tired, start again.
If you’ve failed, try once more.
If the path feels icy and impossible — keep moving toward your horizon.

Your breakthrough might be closer than you think.

Long nights and cold temperatures don’t just affect your electricity bill - they can severely affect your mood too…

“Sinéad Kennedy calls herself “the queen of the winter blues”. For as long as she can remember, the seasonal darkness triggers a descent in mood that usually lasts into the spring.

“It’s the grey days that hurt the most, especially if we get a row of them,” says Kennedy, who is a travel writer and organiser of group wellness holidays from Rathfarnham in Dublin.

“I feel awful. There’s a deep sense of longing, almost like a hopelessness, that sits on my shoulders and just won’t lift.””

Quiting alcohol 9 years ago was easy- I was mad as a brush on it!

I am very happy to be a contributor today in the Irish Independent for Deirdre McArdle

Combined with hormones, perimenopause, hectic life and stress alcohol was not doing me any favours at all.

Without alcohol, my clarity, my decision-making and my mood swings all improved. Plus I have the energy and motivation to exercise.

BEST OF ALL- I have saved a fortune and get to travel even more.

Based in South County Dublin, and online I have classes to suit everybody! No mater your gender, age or size I got you covered.

Pilates, Yoga, boot-camps, body blitz, chair yoga, gentle stretch and relax let me take care of your body. All you need to do is turn up and have a go!

When you feel great on the inside it’s a lot easier to care of the outside. My Health and Wellness Coaching helps you to find and solve any bad habits, blocks or limiting beliefs you may have that are holding you back both physically and emotionally. These maybe impeding your weight loss/ weight gain, killing your motivation and self esteem. I am here to help and hold your hand. Together we will find the best solution for you to find your Mo-Jo, look after your mental and physical health because they DO go hand in hand. If you want results outside, you need to start inside. You are unique and you need a solution specific for you.
