With only 2cweeks more tuis may be still helpful.

Mornings can be a particularly stressful time of the day - everyone trying to get out the door for childcare, school or work. Lots of things to do and get organised to make that happen on time. Many parents find spending some time each night (possibly when little ones are in bed) getting organised for the following day can really help reduce stress in the morning.

Lay clothes out - Laying everyone's clothes (grown ups too) out the night before is a game changer, even if they have a uniform. It takes the decision out of it in the morning. Don’t forget things like socks and hair ties. It can also promote independent dressing.

Make lunches - Don’t leave lunches until the morning time. Have them all done the night before and in the fridge waiting to go. Put school bags beside the fridge and put lunches on a low shelf so everyone can pack their own bag.

Set Up a Morning Checklist: This can be particularly useful so little kiddies can visualise what’s involved in the morning routine. You can use images or words depending on the child. It can help them focus on what’s coming next. Give them a pen and let them tick things off themselves - you’ll sail through the morning.

Prepare Breakfast Options:
Decide on breakfast the night before and prepare any components you can in advance. For example, you can set out cereal and bowls, pre-make smoothies, or prep ingredients for a quick breakfast sandwich.

Check the Weather and Plan Accordingly:
Look at the weather forecast for the next day and plan outerwear and any additional items like umbrellas, hats, or sunscreen. This ensures you're prepared for whatever the weather brings.

Is there anything else you would add?

At Cuidiú, we believe that parenting is built on presence—not perfection. The cuddles, the chaos, the cups of tea… they all shape the memories that last a lifetime. 💫

Whether you're rocking a newborn, chasing a toddler, or juggling it all—you don't have to do it alone.

Although many people do attend our meetups in search of support, it is not at all a requirement. Our groups are a great way to meet other parents in your area who are at the same stage of life as you at the moment. They are a chance to meet other parents, sit down, have a hot cup of tea and chat about the ups and downs of life. They are a chance for us to come together and share our own experiences of parenting. Parenthood can be isolating and lonely, and with so many people living far away from their own families, they can be an opportunity to find your village.

So what are you waiting for? Have a look on our website today to see what’s going on in your local branch, or follow your local branch on social media to keep up to date with meet-ups in your area.

Supporting someone with Postnatal Depression can be tough. It is important to remember that they are coping with a very distressing illness and may not be able to tell you what they need from you right now. But in our experience there are many things you can do to help and support. These are just a few suggestions which you may bear in mind when supporting someone who is feeling low or may have PND.

Show them you care without stifling them.

Offer practical help and support in daily routines.

Be aware of your attitude to illness, take their feelings seriously.

Encourage to help with the baby but don't force things.

Long periods of alone time are not good now, talk and offer lots of encouragement - it always helps.

Choose your words carefully and avoid making comparisons to others.

If possible allow them to let off steam.

If you or the person you are supporting would benefit from talking to one of our trained Parent Supporters, please do reach out today. A list of Parent Supporters (and the languages they speak) can be found in our bio.

Parent supporters do not offer advice or tell you how to be the best parents. They do not have any magic solutions. But they will give you a comfortable and welcoming environment and will provide a space for you to talk in confidence about the ups and downs of parenting.

Parental guilt can affect us all. Here are some tips for dealing with it.

Look at the bigger picture - zoom out and look at the week or month as a whole. When we have bad days, we tend to feel like nothing is going right. But parenting is full of ups and downs. Focus on what you’re doing right as a parent and celebrate more everyday what went right in your day, not what went wrong.

Eliminate the negative self-talk. We are our own worst critics. Try to talk to yourself as you would talk to your best friend - with compassion, love and empathy. It can make a world of difference.

Practice more self care - start small, whatever you can manage - a short 10-minute walk, some yoga, having a coffee in silence before everyone wakes up in the morning.

Let go of the idea of a perfect parent - There is no perfect way to do things; it’s about finding out what works for you and your family. There is simply no such thing as a perfect parent. Just focus on being a ‘good enough’ parent.

Avoid playing the comparison game - social media can make it very difficult to do this. Try to remember you never know the full story. What we put on social media is what we choose to share with other people and it’s more common to share the good than the bad. You could be comparing your worst day to somebody else’s best.
