♀️Happy International Women's Day ♀️

At Ana Liffey, we know inclusion matters. We know that paid maternity, promotions for women, women only spaces and gender sensitive services matter.

💪 57% of both our Board of Directors and our Senior Management Team are women.

🤩 The 45 women working across our back office and front line teams represent diverse cultures, experiences and expertise.

🧡 These dedicated women work hard to plan & deliver services which will reach the most marginalised women in our community. Women who are homeless, who are in addiction, who are being abused. Women with incredible strength, courage and drive to help one another despite their challenges.

🙌 This we are grateful for all of the women who lead Ana Liffey, for the women who allow us into their lives and the women coming along behind us who will be even more fierce!

Today, Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor TD, visited Ana Liffey's Midwest team to learn more about our services.

Speaking about Ana Liffey's Womens Health work, Minister Jennifer Murnane O Connor stated:
"Ana Liffey’s excellent women’s health programme was originally funded in 2024 through my department’s Women’s Health Action Plan. In its short time in operation it has had an incredible impact, supporting homeless women and women at risk of homelessness to access the health services to which they are entitled.
From its pilot beginnings, this programme is helping to reduce inequities and supporting women to enjoy better health outcomes. I’m privileged to have had the opportunity to visit the service myself and I’m very pleased to confirm that under Budget 2026 I have secured recurring funding of €126,562 to ensure its continuation".

We were delighted to welcome Minister of State with responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O Connor to launch Ana Liffey Drug Projects 2024 Annual Report last week in Drury Buildings, Dublin.

In 2024, our teams supported 4,511 individuals experiencing addiction, homelessness, criminal justice issues and domestic violence, across Dublin and Midwest

Speaking at the event, the Minister highlighted our expanded work with vulnerable women stating:
"Ana Liffey expanded their work, supported by the HSE in Dublin and Midwest, to set up women’s specific programmes. In the space of 6 months, the new women’s services had worked with 95 vulnerable women, some of whom had never spoken to a health professional about their needs, held back by fear and stigma”.

Our Peer Worker Deniss Brovkins shared his experiences of peer work saying:
"It makes huge sense for Ana Liffey to have people who’ve used or are using drugs working for them because we have the real life knowledge that you don’t necessarily find in a book".

Chairperson of our Board of Directors Vivian Geiran outlined our strong commitment to harm reduction and person centred recovery stating:
"It’s about keeping people safe today, so that recovery and stability are possible tomorrow”.

Finally our CEO Dawn Russell sincerely thanked all of our teams, service users, Board, funders, partners and supporters 🙏
