We were delighted to welcome Minister of State with responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O Connor to launch Ana Liffey Drug Projects 2024 Annual Report last week in Drury Buildings, Dublin.
In 2024, our teams supported 4,511 individuals experiencing addiction, homelessness, criminal justice issues and domestic violence, across Dublin and Midwest
Speaking at the event, the Minister highlighted our expanded work with vulnerable women stating:
"Ana Liffey expanded their work, supported by the HSE in Dublin and Midwest, to set up women’s specific programmes. In the space of 6 months, the new women’s services had worked with 95 vulnerable women, some of whom had never spoken to a health professional about their needs, held back by fear and stigma”.
Our Peer Worker Deniss Brovkins shared his experiences of peer work saying:
"It makes huge sense for Ana Liffey to have people who’ve used or are using drugs working for them because we have the real life knowledge that you don’t necessarily find in a book".
Chairperson of our Board of Directors Vivian Geiran outlined our strong commitment to harm reduction and person centred recovery stating:
"It’s about keeping people safe today, so that recovery and stability are possible tomorrow”.
Finally our CEO Dawn Russell sincerely thanked all of our teams, service users, Board, funders, partners and supporters 🙏
