Today, Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor TD, visited Ana Liffey's Midwest team to learn more about our services.

Speaking about Ana Liffey's Womens Health work, Minister Jennifer Murnane O Connor stated:
"Ana Liffey’s excellent women’s health programme was originally funded in 2024 through my department’s Women’s Health Action Plan. In its short time in operation it has had an incredible impact, supporting homeless women and women at risk of homelessness to access the health services to which they are entitled.
From its pilot beginnings, this programme is helping to reduce inequities and supporting women to enjoy better health outcomes. I’m privileged to have had the opportunity to visit the service myself and I’m very pleased to confirm that under Budget 2026 I have secured recurring funding of €126,562 to ensure its continuation".

We want to express our sincere thanks to the Irish Mountain Running Association in Munster for organising this thoughtful charity collection for our service users 🙏

The Association has consistently supported our service users in the Winter months with high quality donations of warm outwear. We appreciate them thinking of our service users and doing all they can to help in their community 🧡

Our Midwest team works across Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary supporting people who are sleeping rough, struggling with addiction and dealing with complex issues. For more information on the Midwest Service contact our Regional Service Manager Barry Lynch

We were delighted to welcome Minister of State with responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O Connor to launch Ana Liffey Drug Projects 2024 Annual Report last week in Drury Buildings, Dublin.

In 2024, our teams supported 4,511 individuals experiencing addiction, homelessness, criminal justice issues and domestic violence, across Dublin and Midwest

Speaking at the event, the Minister highlighted our expanded work with vulnerable women stating:
"Ana Liffey expanded their work, supported by the HSE in Dublin and Midwest, to set up women’s specific programmes. In the space of 6 months, the new women’s services had worked with 95 vulnerable women, some of whom had never spoken to a health professional about their needs, held back by fear and stigma”.

Our Peer Worker Deniss Brovkins shared his experiences of peer work saying:
"It makes huge sense for Ana Liffey to have people who’ve used or are using drugs working for them because we have the real life knowledge that you don’t necessarily find in a book".

Chairperson of our Board of Directors Vivian Geiran outlined our strong commitment to harm reduction and person centred recovery stating:
"It’s about keeping people safe today, so that recovery and stability are possible tomorrow”.

Finally our CEO Dawn Russell sincerely thanked all of our teams, service users, Board, funders, partners and supporters 🙏

Our CEO Dawn Russell was privileged to meet one of Ana Liffey’s co-founders, Fr. Frank Brady, last week. His activism and hands on work with marginalised communities, people in prisons and people struggling with addiction continue on today. On our behalf, Dawn was able to tell Frank how he is still discussed in all our staff and volunteer inductions. She thanked him for his ongoing inspiration to us all in our work.

He had much to share about Ana Liffey’s origins..he filled in some missing information! There’s more to learn from Frank in the months to come..watch this space 🤩

We had a wonderful offsite day yesterday with many of our Board of Directors and our Senior Management Team.

We took the morning to discuss the impact of each of our frontline services, reflecting on our ethos and values in action. In the afternoon, we discussed our Strategic Goals and the impact they will have on staff and service users once achieved. We reflected on the duties of the Board, on how to operate to the highest standard and the importance of good governance.

Our Chairperson Vivian Geiran, our Directors and all the staff of the Ana Liffey wish to take the opportunity to whole heartedly thank our two outgoing Directors Catherine Comiskey and Jack Nolan. Catherine and Jack have both served full terms as Directors. We thank them both for the diligence and care they have taken during their tenure on our Board. They have both left a lasting impact on our governance and culture.

As Michael D Higgins ends his second term as Irelands Head of State, we wish to extend heartfelt thanks to President Higgins for his leadership, integrity and compassion.

Since 2014, President Higgins has been the Sole Patron to Ana Liffey. His commitment to human rights and inclusive citizenship has given us guidance and hope in times of adversity. His unwavering bravery to speak out in the face of anything that threatens those fundamental rights has inspired and empowered us.

As we look to the future, we are eager to see the next President of Ireland carry this flame forward, standing for our marginalised, traumatised and systematically oppressed citizens.

Go raibh míle maith agat, Uachtarán na hÉireann. Go nÉirí an bóthar leat 👏

We had an amazing Team Development Day in the Osprey Hotel at the end of September! Stephen and his team at Dynamic Events Ireland organised a fantastic day of team building, it’ll be a day we remember for a long time.

All of our staff work extremely hard on the frontline and in our back office to ensure we deliver the best possible service to some of Irelands most vulnerable citizens. Ana Liffey isn’t an easy place to work, but it is rewarding.

It is important for us to support all of our team members to build and maintain strong relationships with one another on Team Development Days. You learn something new on days like this and leave with lots of hilarious memories! Thanks to all our team for making it a wonderful day 🧡
Thanks especially to our Nikitha Honnavara Murali for organising everything and thinking of every little detail!
