Chronic Pain Ireland CPI National charity (RCN: 20028022 and Chy No 10779) providing information & support services. Established in 1992, Chronic Pain Ireland CLG.

In Europe 1 in 5 people live with chronic pain, in Ireland that figure is higher and estimated at 1 in 3. To create a greater awareness of Chronic Pain and to provide relevant information and support for those living with the condition, for their families and friends. is the only national organisation providing information and support services to people living with Chronic Pain. We are a registered charity, and we work with all stakeholders including those living with chronic pain, their families and carers, health professionals, students, researchers and others interested in chronic pain. CPI has demonstrated professional leadership in Ireland and throughout Europe by raising awareness of chronic pain, educating in methods of dealing with the condition, and advocating for the needs of people living in chronic pain. We advocate for multi-disciplinary treatment centres, improved health services and changes to the educational curriculum so that healthcare providers are more aware of the condition and the challenges of diagnosing, treating and managing the condition. We adhere to the principles of good corporate governance. We are transparent and compliant with all regulatory requirements. Because of this funding, we were able to offer 562 places with a 76% engagement rate across 23 counties.

โ€ข 97โ€“100% rated the training Very Good or Excellent
โ€ข 35% of booster participants reported fewer GP visits

We are inviting stakeholders to take part in a national priority-setting study exploring how FemTech and patient-generated health data (from symptom-tracking apps and wearables) can be better integrated into clinical care in Ireland. The study focuses on womenโ€™s health, including menstrual health conditions (e.g., endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD), chronic conditions (e.g., migraine, dysautonomia), and the peri-menopause/menopause transition.

This study uses a three-stage online priority-setting process (e-Delphi method) from February to March 2026. We are seeking stakeholders who can commit to all three stages.

We are currently seeking ~35 stakeholders for Stage 1, who will share their perspectives in an online survey. Those selected will be asked to take part in all three stages, as each stage builds on the previous one.

I am a Psychology student at the University of Galway and as part of my fourth and final year, I am conducting research alongside my supervisor Dr. Brian McGuire, concerning chronic pain and pain dismissal experiences among women in Ireland.

Chronic pain is pain persisting for longer than 3 months, consistently or recurringly. Examples of chronic pain conditions include endometriosis, migraine, back pain, menstrual pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis etc.

Pain dismissal involves healthcare providers, relatives or those close to you, disregarding or downplaying pain experiences. Such dismissal can have serious consequences for diagnosis, treatment, and the main point of this study, emotional wellbeing
