I eventually met the famous Mike Gonda through back in 2021. They say not to meet your hero’s but Mike didn’t disappoint 😁 Ian had told me all about Mikes incredible achievements and how brilliant a friend and work colleague he is. Mike is such an inspiration to all including myself. I’m delighted to have met this man and to ran in his daughters memorial run. The nicest and most meaningful of all running medals I earned.

Mike recently ran the in his native Philippines. I could only imagine how tough conditions were with the humidity (considering I’m struggling to run with the heat at the moment 😂) . Despite the gruelling nature of the extreme endurance event, Mike finished 5th in his age category’s and 13th overall. A massive congratulations Mike and well deserved. Delighted to hear you secured a qualifying slot to the Ironman world championship in Nice 10th September 2023. This is one story to watch 😁 look forward to catching up when you’re back to hear about the nitty gritty of the race 👌🏼

⚠️ appreciation post ⚠️

The first time I met Jessie was back in 2018. I was immediately impressed by her dedication and professionalism from a young age. A notable achievement early on was being the first girl to be selected for the DDSL representative team while playing with .This was to set the tone for the rest of her career 😁 Her father had always told me she had something special and she’d ‘make it’. Noel and Jessie both saw the importance of physiotherapist input early on in Jessie’s career and used to prioritise it before her international duties 🇮🇪

Jessie is an absolute credit to her parents Noel and .She’s such a lovely, humble, modest and rare talent. I would love to mention all her achievements to date but there’s too many 😂 I remember watching Jessie in the women’s cup final 2021 with my daughter Edie and thinking what an amazing role model Jessie will be for Edie and many aspiring younger athletes 👏🏻

I was thrilled to hear the news that Jessie had signed for . With today marking the start of the leaving cert, I want to wish you all the best in your exams and all your future endeavours. I know you will do brilliantly no matter what you put your mind to. So proud to say that I was part of your football career in Ireland (you did all the hard work 😁)

⚠️ and post ⚠️

A massive congratulation to everyone who completed the cork city marathon, half marathon, 10k race or VHI mini marathon yesterday in seriously hot conditions. Running a race is never easy, let alone in sweltering heat. To anyone who competed and they’re disappointed with their time, please look at the last photo of this post to explain how heat affects your paces.

Big shout out to and for both completing their first marathons. Wasn’t easy conditions for your first marathon but I’m glad it didn’t put you off and you’re both already talking about your next goals 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 An extremely solid half marathon by which will stand to her when she gets in to her block. Congratulations to who finished 6th overall with a PB of 2:34. Congrats to his own coach .2 who finished second in a tightly contested top four race.

Well done to and .obrien.x of at yesterdays VHI mini marathon. Amanda running really strongly on her journey to her first marathon in Dublin. I’m not sure what Ian has in store for Shauna but I’m sure you’ll smash it 😁

I can’t over overstate how difficult running in the heat is so congratulations again to everyone. I wouldn’t have fancied it myself 😂

If anyone requires help with their running or athletic development, we offer multiple services at DC Fitness Physio. Please DM for more information re S & C specific for runners, vo2 testing, RMR testing, mat/reformer Pilates, running coaching and physiotherapy input.

⚠️ appreciation post⚠️

From the first time I met Nessa I instantly knew she was extremely committed and passionate about her running. She remains focused and always looking to improve. With the Wexford Festival of running fast approaching she made sure to prioritise getting some Physiotherapy treatment. As always, the treatment consisted of an assessment and hands on treatment. We spoke at length about recovery, appropriate training load, types of training sessions and strength & conditioning. One aspect she felt she is lacking in is Strength & conditioning specific for runners.

On 07/05/23 Nessa ran an incredible race to take home 2nd lady with a 13th position overall. Cracking stuff Nessa 😁 I can only see you going from strength to strength as we plan to implement all we discussed in our last session. Look forward to seeing you bright and early for the 6am class tomorrow morning. Bring the coffee (for me 😁)

⚠️ .does.trails appreciation post⚠️

There is no obstacle too great, no challenge too difficult for the main man .does.trails . After an extremely successful race conquering the 10 laps of , Mark set his sights higher and entered the WTF 3 Day Ultra Stage Race.

The consists of running 130km over three days. This works out at 43.3km per day with 3950 metres of ascent 🤯

Not only did Mark smash this challenge, he ended up running faster each day. What an incredible achievement. Mark has been incredibly diligent with his training and recovery. Mar made sure to follow his own hand crafted running plan, strength & conditioning, and prioritising recovery by investing in himself and attending physiotherapy regularly.

It was a pleasure to be part of the process and to catch up yesterday. Looking forward to your next challenge. Now enjoy the rest 😁

⚠️ appreciation post⚠️

I first met Andy when he was preparing for the Belfast Marathon back in 2021. He was in fantastic shape to break the sub 3 and definitely had the fitness to achieve this milestone. However, a hamstring injury on the day put a spanner in the works and it wasn’t to be.

Andy has become diligent with his running training under the guidance of .2 and got serious about his strength and conditioning regime by attending the DC Fitness Physio running specific S & C class at 06:00 am (even turned up when the class had been cancelled….sorry Andy 😂)

16/04/23 marked the day Andy broke the elusive 3 hour mark at the

Despite illness leading up to the marathon, Andy showed serious strength of character when he had to overcome calf cramps that started from mile 14. Andy managed to catch the pacers to set his new marathon PB of 2:59:38 👏🏻👌🏼👏🏻

Keep up the great work. I can only seeing you go from strength to strength 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Enjoy the recovery. Looking forward to catching up on the plinth 👌🏼😂👌🏼

⚠️ appreciation post ⚠️

The first time I met Josh he was preparing for 2019. Thanks to they suggested he get in touch to sort out ‘a ni**le in his knee’. The rest is history 😁 Josh’s running has gone from strength to strength from 2019 to 2023. He has achieved so much during this period with PB after PB, continually representing Ireland in the orienteering world and getting very comfortable up on the podium with gold, silver and bronze 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 As impressive as all of his achievements are, what I most admire is his commitment to the rehab process when he gets injured. After such a successful year in 2022, the year ended with disappointment when injury struck end of December. After a nasty tendinitis flare up, we had to ease completely back and stop running. This isn’t what a 100 mile a week man wants to hear! So he did 300+ miles on the bike per week 😂 We assessed, treated and prescribed the appropriate rehab exercises. Most importantly, we drew up a plan. We assessed, re-assessed and stuck with the plan. 01/04/23 Josh flew to Italy for the MOC Sprint camp. As Josh recently said ‘ 12 weeks ago I was clocking 0km a week due to my injury so it’s a real bonus to have gotten some positive feedback both technically and physically in the trainings and races, especially in the KO finals where I had the 5th fastest time overall, along with clocking 190.6 km over the 9 days and hitting >230 controls’. Seriously impressive stuff 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Keep up the good honest work Josh. You deserve nothing short of greatness. Looking forward to catching up on the treatment table this week 😁 💉👀💉😁

⚠️WARNING ⚠️ appreciation post ⚠️

Well, where do I start with this one?!? From running his first marathon in 2019 (3:45) to completing a whopping 100k in 7:38:36 representing Ireland 🇮🇪 in the Anglo Celtic Plate 2023. When I met Ian I knew he was serious about running from the beginning. We were both preparing for the Donadea 50k race back in 2020. While treating him with dry needles, he was lying on the treatment plinth telling me he was going to beat me 😂 Despite me having the upper hand (and a fistful of needles) he was determined and trusted his ability. Ian was indeed the first Warrior home that day 👌🏼 This wasn’t a sign of arrogance, in fact it was just Ian trying to push me to greater good with my own running. Something he does day in day out with his own friends, family and clients. Just look at his page. Testimony to all he helps 😁 Ian has truly committed to the process of developing his own running through engaging in Strength & conditioning (specific for runners),pilates (mat & reformers) and Physiotherapy assessments and treatments. With the experienced coach of .2 I can only see Ian going from strength to strength and fulfilling his potential. Ian is very lucky to have such a supportive wife in .obrien.x as no one can achieve such feats without having a support network behind them. Keep up the fantastic work and keep inspiring all who witness your journey. What an incredible turnaround yesterday digging in deep when things were starting to look bleak. An inspiration to all 😁Looking forward to catching up on the treatment table this week 😁 💉👀💉😁
