Trigger points

A trigger point is not just a tender spot affecting the local area. It can affects large areas of muscle tissue supplied by nerves. It is called trigger point because it triggers a response to pain. The trigger point is located in a taut band of muscle fibers and is the tender point of it. The massage therapist will locate the point then will deactivate it by applying thumb/finger pressure over it or by using the pincer grip technique. I may require several massage sessions to get rid of it.
