Dr Gabe Mirkin came up with RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) back in 1978. In 2015, he publicly conceded the new evidence showed it did not work.
There's little evidence ice is good for injuries like rolled ankles. Now, some researchers suspect it may delay the healing process.
