Today, we come together as a community to pause, to reflect, and to remember.
This memorial service is held in honour of those from our community who have sadly passed away due to issues relating to addiction. Each person we remember today was more than their struggle. They were sons and daughters, parents, siblings, friends and neighbours. They are people who were loved and who mattered deeply.
Addiction can bring profound pain and loss, not only for individuals, but for families, friends, and entire communities. Today gives us space to acknowledge that loss openly, without judgement, and with compassion. It allows us to speak names, to hold memories, and to recognise the impact these lives had on us all.
At Donore Community Drug & Alcohol Team, we believe that remembrance is an act of care. By gathering here, we honour the dignity of those we have lost and the grief of those left behind. This is a space for quiet reflection, shared sorrow, and mutual support.
As we move through this service, we invite you to take whatever you need from this time, whether that is silence, connection, memory, or simply being present together. You are not alone.
