Over the weekend, our residents rolled up their sleeves and got creative, making beautiful Christmas decorations using pieces of nature they gathered themselves. 🍃🎄
On the photos are our wonderfully crafty-fingered residents — Philomena, Noell, Anne, Kay and Marion — all proudly showing their handmade festive creations.

🕊️ Annual Memorial Mass 🕊️

Our Annual Memorial Mass will take place this evening, Wednesday, November 12th at 6pm in Glenaulin Nursing Home.

This special service is a time for reflection, remembrance, and honouring the cherished residents and loved ones who are no longer with us. 💖

For those who cannot join us in person, the Mass will be streamed live on our page.

🎂 There was great excitement on Monday, November 10th, as our wonderful resident Ann celebrated her birthday in style here in Glenaulin Nursing Home 💐

The day was filled with great fun, a scrumptious cake, balloons, cards, gifts, and plenty of singing as everyone joined in to wish Ann a very happy birthday.
Most of all, there was lots of love and laughter shared among friends and staff, making it a truly special celebration❤🥰.

Happy Birthday, Ann — here’s to another fantastic year ahead 💖🎈

Have you ever been to the Museum of Modern Art in your bedroom slippers? 😊 Our residents in Nursing Home have!

We had a wonderful visit from Sundara of IMMA Dublin, who brought the world of modern art right to us through her inspiring presentation on the work of Stephen McKenna.

Everyone — Ann, Noell, Lily, Philomena, Marion, Kay, Connie, Rita, and Activities Coordinator Dana — were fully immersed in the beauty and meaning of his art.

We couldn’t agree more with McKenna’s words:

“Painting is the art of decoration and representation – of making images of ourselves and the world surrounding us and making them visible to the sense and intelligence of others.”

A big thank you to Sundara and the for such a thoughtful and creative session — and to our residents for proving that great art can be enjoyed in both style and comfort… even in slippers 👩‍🎨👵🩵

💬 “When I was younger, I wanted to be…” 💬

At Glenaulin Nursing Home, we recently asked some of our wonderful residents to share their dream jobs from when they were little — and what they actually worked as when they grew up 🥰

It sparked lots of laughter and great conversation around the room (especially between Noel and Frank 😆).

Here’s what everyone shared:

When I was younger, I wanted to be. & then... I worked as...
An older man .............. Car assembler
Happy 🙂 ................... Factory worker with lots of friends

It was such a lovely way to reminisce and learn a little more about each other’s journeys through life. 💕

🎃 Spooky Fun at Glenaulin Nursing Home 👻 A throwback to our Halloween Party. What a fantastic time we had 🥳👻🧟‍♀️There was plenty of fun, food, dancing, and laughter as residents, their loved ones, and staff all got into the spirit of the season — with great costumes and big smiles all around 🥳🕸️

A huge thank you to all our residents and their families for joining us and embracing the party atmosphere — your energy and joy made the day so specia . 💛

And of course, a big shout-out to our wonderful Glenaulin team who pulled out all the stops to make the celebration so memorable. From our Activities Coordinators who brought the fun to life, to our Healthcare Assistants, Chef Justya and Kitchen Staff for the delicious food, and our talented musician David for keeping everyone dancing — thank you for creating such a warm and joyful afternoon filled with new memories. 🎶🧡

🎃 Pumpkin Fun at Glenaulin 👻
There was plenty of Halloween spirit at Glenaulin Nursing Home during the week as Peggy, James, Marie, Mairead, and Maureen got creative with some pumpkin decorating and spooky fun 🕸️🕯️

A big thank you to our wonderful Healthcare Assistant Sonia and the team for helping everyone join in and enjoy the festive fun. 🧡

🎂 Happy 81st Birthday to Marie 🎈
Today we celebrated Marie’s 81st birthday here at Glenaulin Nursing Home with a beautiful homemade cake, plenty of cards, and birthday wishes from everyone. 💐🎁

Marie enjoyed a relaxed, cosy 'douvet' day surrounded by the warmth and care of our wonderful team — proof that birthdays can be celebrated in many gentle and special ways. 💖

💬 Gentleman’s Club at Glenaulin Nursing Home 💙

On Sunday, October 19th, our residents enjoyed a relaxed afternoon at our Gentleman’s Club — playing cards and dominoes, chatting about old photos of Dublin, and sharing stories about family, sport, and music.

A special moment came when Nicholas recognised Jeffrey from their hurling days, recalling what a great player he was! 🏑👏
Our team members, Caoimhe and Natasha, were on had to encourage the conversation and referee the board games 🤣
It’s these wonderful memories and shared connections that make our Glenaulin Nursing Home so special. 💙

During our recent trip to The Hill Shopping Centre, we popped into the coffee shop where we had a lovely surprise!

Connie was greeted by Frank, an old neighbour, and the two enjoyed a great catch-up after so many years. 😊 The man in the white top is Frank’s carer, and they had an animated chat with Connie about their shared love of Liverpool Football Club ⚽❤️

A big thank-you as well to the friendly Coffee Shop Manager, who made everyone feel so welcome. 🥰
