Sonas Sounds Immersive Sound Creations

Sound baths, experimental sound installations & Sound massage therapy

Pl Currently practicing in Dublin, Ireland.

Carefully crafted, immersive experiences created through the medium of sound. Offering group sound baths and immersive sound installations, creating a journey like no other, where the sound and vibration can have a deeply profound effect. Across cultures and time sound has been used in ceremony and celebration, and is a powerful tool that resonates within each individual in a unique way. Drawing on ancient practices and modern research into the effects of sound and vibration, we create unique and poignant immersive sonic experiences. We also offer individual "sound massage"; a deeply relaxing holistic therapy, for body and mind. Using specialised therapy bowls placed directly onto the fully-clothed body and played using felt mallets, the combined sound and vibration induce a deep sense of meditative relaxation which helps to calm the mind and body. The bowls are strategically placed around the body, working through the meridian points, sending vibration through the body and creating a flow of sounds and energy which encourages harmonisation and deep relaxation. There's just something about mist that always gets me. A reminder of the way of things, and the mystery of it all. Just hanging there. Dancing over the land, and with the light. Tangible, but not. Maybe it's just me, but things like this are like a gift beyond to me... a brief moment of connection with the miracle of it all, to blow my heart wide open again ✨❤️✨

This year I had the pleasure of working on "Art-icle 12" with and the Central Remedial Clinic school: A creative programme designed to empower very young children with disabilities, helping them find their voice and express themselves through the arts. As a child led programme, it was exploratory and ever evolving. Many of the kids had varying physical needs, some neuro-divergence, and some non-verbal. It was such a rich experience with so much learning. One of the main things I learned is that there is so much to be understood when we communicate beyond words. When you slow down and really pay close attention, you can understand so much more about a person's experience than perhaps could ever be communicated in language. It made me wonder, how often do we look beyond the words (especially in conflict) to see what else is present?

This work has inspired me, beyond words! And has influenced how I approach my work more generally too. What a gift.

I'm so looking forward to working with Helen again next year in 2 new schools, and exploring all there is to learn from those eager early years minds ❤️

I finally got out today to start a project I've been thinking about for ages... I had noticed loads of resistance recently, doubting myself and the idea, thinking it won't be good enough etc... Then I thought, good enough for what?! So many fears, so little creation. So anyway, I pulled myself together and decided to just start it, and see what comes of it... Why all the (self) pressure?!! I needed to remind myself it can just be fun too. So I got out and I did have fun and now I'm happy and I had a lovely sunny freezing swim while I was at it! 💦☀️❄️❤️ ✨

This little beauty came across my path on a ritual of connecting with the first frost last week (ahead of tucking into some less enticing work I needed to do). A moment in time, the bright coloured flower hanging in there before the frost kills it off. It was a beautiful moment, so much wonder in this little flower and the tiny but powerful icicles. I've introduced a new ritual-based scheduling approach, on the life-long search for balance between productivity and creativity... Anyone else able to relate?! I'm giving it a go for a while to see how it works for me, I'll report back! So far so good, this little moment gave me a pep in my step and the lingering feeling I got from indulging in awe stayed with me while I did some other work. Try it out, let me know what you think!

Note to self... When creativity is stuck, explore the supposedly mundane. Puddles, colours, lights, shadows, shimmers, reflections... Inspiration ✨

I've been feeling a lot of despair lately, it's hard to not let it get in. But days like today, surrounded by amazing people singing for peace through the streets of Dublin (thanks to the people behind ) I felt some hope coming back again. Studies have found that when groups of people sing together their heart beats synchronize. I think this is what revived the light of hope for me today. I hope that energy rippled out to the Palestinians too. I know they need much more than that, but I hope it's something at least.
I just love this poem so much and it felt like an appropriate message, with the solar eclipse today and for anyone else that needs the reminder, like I did. There really is nothing as great as the hope of light in the face of darkness. Keep the faith, grá mór ❤️

From "Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings" by Joy Harjo, read by

I saw a post from  today, demonstrating the destruction of Gaza and these words from Joy Harjo's poem came to my mind.

How can anyone who believes it is God's will for them to have land, do this to it? Not only has Israel no regard for the human life they destroy, but they have no regard for the earth either, despite their claims to it. How will they explain all of this destruction of human life and of the land to their children for generations to come. 💔

This is a beautiful, powerful and intelligent poem that offers a different perspective for conflict resolution. This is just an extract that rang through my mind today. I've struggled so much to find words to comment on this horrific genocide. Because that's what it is. It's not about land. It's not about God's will. It's a brutal genocide against the Palestinian people and a war against land, not for it.

Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings, by Joy Harjo

Recognise who's lands these are on which we stand. Ask the deer, turtle, and the crane. Make sure the spirits of these lands are respected and treated with goodwill. The land is a being who remembers everything. You will have to answer to your children, and their children, and theirs. The red shimmering of remembering will compel you up the night, to walk the perimeter of truth for understanding.

I've found it hard to find words to express my thoughts and the overwhelming grief I've felt at the terror inflicted on the Palestinian people and at the painfully slow and avoidant response internationally. But the words of this song hit me hard a while ago, and they continued to come back to me until I made a video, which I tried to post today but has been blocked.

We can't deny our interconnectivity with what is unfolding in Palestine. The Palestinian people are carrying the crucifix for humanity on this dark dark night of the collective soul, and the impact of this is rippling through the world, no one is untouched.

So I made the video as a meditation for myself, to connect with each life presented within it, and all the lives lost. To contemplate the reality of it and consider what I CAN do, even if that is just this small action of solidarity, and my desperate call to our Government.

An extract is in my stories if you'd like to watch it,with a link to the full version, which is also linked on my bio.  Maybe it will act as a meditation for you too. It's not intended to provoke guilt or shame, but contemplation and hopefully action. We can only do so much, so let's keep doing what we can. It is more important than ever that we are not complacent or idle, we need to send a clear message to our Government that we demand they take action and be explicit in denouncing any support for the illegal occupation of Palestine.

It's also intended to be a prayer, that these souls know they are not forgotten and I hope that their deaths, in the end, will not be in vein.

A new sun will soon rise where the structures of oppression and greed will be replaced with a new vision and way of being. But only if we insist and make it happen. I hold this hope in my heart.

I thank the Palestinian people for bearing the crucifix for humanity during this long dark night. We are still with you.

I'd invite anyone, individuals or organizations to use the video if you'd like. I sent it to my elected representatives, maybe you'd like to do the same, or if you think of other ways it could be used, please do.
With love and hope, Free Palestine 🕊️

"To know the dark", by Wendell Berry... One of my favorites. I'm struck by how much focus I see on winter solstice representing the return of the light. I know on one level this is true and may be something to celebrate. But on another level, we're actually really just landing into the very depth of the darkness of winter. The pinnacle. And it stays with us for some time. It's rich cavernous depth. It's potency. I think it's this dark stillness that we need more than anything right now. Personally, I'm really feeling the potency of this solstice. Some very interesting things becoming illuminated for me. Just like is happening around the world. As they say... as within, so without. And when we see if, we can heal it. 🕊️
Solstice love to everyone 🖤
