Remedy Spotlight: Cina

Cina is a key children’s remedy -especially for those who are hard to soothe, full of nervous energy, and prone to belly discomfort. It's commonly considered when a child is whiny, oversensitive to touch or attention, and wakes frequently in the night.

What Stands Out in Cina?

• Oversensitivity — doesn’t want to be touched, looked at, or talked to
• Restlessness — constant fidgeting, twisting, kicking in sleep
• Digestive signs — bloated belly, frequent hunger, grinding teeth
• Itching and rubbing the nose — especially with digestive symptoms
• Sleep disturbances — frequent waking, night terrors, whimpering

Cina children often feel tense and overstimulated, but unable to express it clearly. They may scream, hit, or push others away when upset, yet can’t explain what’s wrong. Comforting or cuddling usually makes them more agitated.

This remedy is also helpful when anger comes quickly, especially when the child is overtired, hungry, or not feeling well.

Physical Signs to Watch For:

• Pale face with red cheeks or rings around the eyes
• Bloated stomach or gurgling digestion
• Sudden bursts of irritability or aggression
• Itching at the nose or re**um
• Grinding of teeth -often noticed during sleep

Did You Know?

Cina is made from a type of wormwood and was historically linked to parasites and digestive complaints. In homeopathy, it goes beyond worms - it’s about the nervous, irritated state often seen in both physical and emotional symptoms.

A Cina child might seem like:

A child who wriggles constantly, throws a toy in frustration, says “Don’t look at me!”, scratches their nose, and then falls into an uneasy sleep — only to wake up crying again.

If you want to learn how to recognise and choose remedies like Cina, our Home Prescribing Course is open.
We’ll guide you through how to match symptoms and support your child naturally.

A 42-year-old man came for help after slipping while getting out of his van. He didn’t fall completely, but twisted awkwardly and felt a sharp pull in his lower back and right hip.

The next day, the pain was aching and bruised, as if he had been beaten. He could still move, but every time he tried to bend or climb stairs, he winced. The joints felt weak, and he said, “It feels like my back could give way if I move wrong.”

He also mentioned a dull soreness in his wrists from overusing tools at work and a stiff, heavy feeling in his legs when sitting too long. Lying on something hard gave a bit of relief, but soft beds made the pain worse.

He had already tried Arnica, which helped the initial soreness but not the deep, lingering pain in the tendons and ligaments.

What remedy would you prescribe?

Thinking about studying homeopathy?

Clinical experience is a central part of our Professional Practitioner Course. It helps students build confidence step by step so they feel ready to support clients safely and clearly after graduation.

Here is how it unfolds through the years:

In the first year, students practise with paper cases so they can learn how to think through a case without pressure.

In the second year, they watch experienced tutors take and manage cases. This helps them see remedy selection and follow up in real time.

In the third and fourth years, students take part in the school clinic. They begin taking cases themselves, always under the supervision of qualified homeopaths. They observe, analyse, prescribe and manage cases in a safe and supported environment. This is where many feel everything finally comes together.

If you feel curious about learning homeopathy but want to begin gently, our Home Prescribers Certificate Programme is a lovely starting point.
Five days, five different topics and five meaningful learning experiences. It gives you a clear sense of how it feels to study with us before stepping into professional training.

Join today and explore homeopathy in a kind and supportive setting. Message "JOIN" and we will send you all the details!

Remedy Spotlight: Carbo vegetabilis.

Carbo veg is known in homeopathy for states of extreme weakness, poor circulation, and digestive overload. It’s often used when someone is cold, pale, faint, and feels like they can't get enough air. It's also a key remedy for bloating and gas, especially after rich food.

Think of Carbo veg when:

• The person feels cold, clammy, and weak
• They want fresh air and feel worse in warm rooms
• There’s slow digestion, with belching, bloating, and smelly gas
• They feel faint or exhausted, especially after illness or blood loss
• There's a sense of air hunger – they want to be fanned

Top Uses:

• Faintness, weakness, or collapse
• Bloating after heavy, rich, or fatty meals
• Breathing trouble with cold skin and slow circulation
• Slow recovery after flu, surgery, or childbirth
• Shock or weakness in elderly people or after heatstroke

Worse from: heat, overeating, fatty foods, lying flat
Better from: fresh air, fanning, burping, sitting upright

Did you know?

Carbo vegetabilis is made from purified vegetable charcoal. In homeopathy, it’s known for its ability to support people when the system feels stuck- digestion, circulation, or energy all seem to shut down. It gently encourages the body to reawaken.

A Carbo veg person might say:

“I feel like I can’t breathe properly unless there’s air moving.”
“I’m so bloated I feel like I’ll burst.”
“I’m freezing but don’t cover me – I feel smothered.”

Homeopathy vs Allopathy – What Is the Difference?

Many people wonder what separates homeopathy from conventional (allopathic) medicine. Both are here to support healing, but they look at illness, symptoms and treatment in very different ways.

How Each System Understands Symptoms

Homeopathy:
Symptoms are seen as signals from the body, showing that it is trying to correct an imbalance. Instead of suppressing symptoms, homeopathy works with them, guiding the body back to harmony.

Allopathy (Conventional Medicine):
Symptoms are often seen as problems to be stopped or controlled. Treatment usually focuses on reducing or blocking symptoms for quicker relief.

Main Differences

Homeopathy
• Based on “like cures like.”
• Uses highly diluted natural substances to stimulate the body’s own healing.
• Treats the whole person – physical, emotional and mental symptoms.
• Aims to address the root cause, not just the surface symptom.
• Safe for all ages due to the minimum dose.

Allopathy
• Uses the principle of opposites – anti-inflammatories, anti-biotics, anti-histamines.
• Relies on pharmaceutical drugs, surgery and diagnostics.
• Focuses mainly on the disease and physical symptoms.
• Very effective in emergencies, infections, trauma and surgery.

Can They Be Used Together?

Yes. Homeopathy is safe to use alongside allopathic treatment because remedies do not interfere with conventional medicines. Many people combine both – homeopathy for gentle support and deeper healing, allopathy for urgent or critical care.

Homeopathy works with the body. Allopathy works against disease. Both can support health in their own way.

The Core Principles of Homeopathy

Curious what homeopathy is based on? Here are the four main principles that guide this gentle system of healing:

• The Law of Similars – “Like cures like”
A substance that can cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can help relieve similar symptoms in someone who is unwell.

• The Single Remedy
Only one remedy is given at a time so we can clearly see how the body responds.

• The Minimum Dose
Homeopathy uses the smallest possible dose. Remedies are diluted and energised to gently stimulate the body’s natural healing without side effects.

• The Law of Cure
Healing often follows a natural path: from within outward, from top to bottom, and from recent symptoms to older ones. This shows the body is moving in the right direction.

Homeopathy works with the body, not against it.
