To those outside Ireland — a little context for the title “The Ash Between Us.”
It’s not about dust or dirt. In Ireland, ash refers to the ash tree, from which the hurley stick (or camán) used in the ancient game of hurling is made.

The hurley isn’t just a piece of sports equipment — it’s a symbol of heritage and strength. In old Ireland, the hurley was sometimes even used as a weapon, and in mythology, heroes like Cú Chulainn wielded it with power and pride.

So the Ash between us doesn’t mean separation or decay — it speaks of the shared spirit of our game, the bond of tradition, and the ancient weapon shaped from the ash tree that connects generations of Irish people.
