Tailored nutritional advice to suit your personal

Siobhan Durkan offers tailored nutritional programmes to suit your personal needs. As a nutritional therapist I use a Functional Medicine approach, an integrative, science-based healthcare approach to provide dietary and lifestyle advice for optimal health and well-being in addition to addressing a wide range of complaints and conditions including;

Digestive Problems: bloating, acid reflux,constipation
Weight Issues
IBS
Fatigue
PMS/Menopausal Symptoms
High Cholesterol
High Blood Pressure
Food Intolerances & much more. What is Functional Medicine?:
Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease or conditions, using a system-orientated approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centred focus of medical practice to a more patient-centred approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental,diet and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, functional medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.

This isn't news to most NT's, however it's great that this is being recognised as a contributing factor for Crohn's, an inflammatory bowel disease. Fungal and bacterial overgrowth can be a result of bad dietary and lifestyle habits.Addressing these habits could be extremely beneficial to those predisposed to Crohn's and/or those already diagnosed with the condition. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_57e40374e4b0e28b2b52a67c?

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disorder that results in inflammation of the digestive tract. Abdominal pain, severe diarrhea and fatigue, are among the most common forms of inflammatory bowel disorder.

Sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday. Learn how to make HEALTHY chocolate treats, for FREE! The health benefits of cocoa,the main component in dark chocolate , include relief from high blood pressure and cholesterol, improves cardiovascular health and brain health. It also helps in addressing copper deficiency, possesses mood-enhancing properties and exerts protective effects against neurotoxicity. Obviously chewing on raw cocoa nibs is going to be a much healthier option then a square of dark chocolate because even dark chocolate contains sugar but a healthy treat using good quality cocoa and using refined sugar free products to sweeten is going to me a much better option than your standard chocolate bar or sweets you find in most supermarkets. It's ok to treat ourselves every now and then, learning how to do it in moderation in key!

Check out this delicious recipe for a salad which is both warming and refreshing, a perfect combo for a day like today! http://www.iinh.net/quinoa-tabbouleh-with-roasted-summer-vegetables/

Quinoa – prounced (keen-wah) is gluten-free. It has many wonderful titles: ‘Cavier of grains’ ‘Mother grain’ and ‘Gold of the Incas’ - Such empowering names!. It is not actually a cereal grain, but is used like one. (it is actually a seed). The shape and colour of the grains

Ireland’s surface water has the second highest level of glyphosate in the EU. Glyphosate is the key ingredient in the world’s most popular w**d killer and has been declared ‘probably carcinogenic’ by the World Health Organisation. It has also been linked to birth defects, kidney failure, celiac disease, colitis and even autism; and poses a threat to the health of bees and other insects.Shockingly our Minister for Agriculture supports its use! [4]https://uplift.ie/no_glyphosate/

Ireland has the second highest level in Europe of a dangerous chemical called glyphosate in our surface water. Mounting evidence suggests that glyphosate is dangerous to human and animal health. So it’s shocking to see that our Minister for Agriculture supports its use.
