April is not only IBS Awareness month, but Sunday April 19th marks World IBS Day.
IBS, or irritable bowel syndrome, is the most commonly diagnosed gastrointestinal complaint, affecting 1/5 people in Ireland and affects twice as many women more than men.
IBS consists of a number of symptoms, including constipation, diarrhoea or a mixture of the two, stomach pain, bloating, abnormal bowel habits, backache, bladder symptoms and more. There are also common triggers for IBS that you can keep an eye out for, including certain foods and ingredients, stress, hormonal changes and infection.
