There are two entirely different treatments using conscious hypnosis. Hypnosis itself is not therapy rather a therapy conducted in hypnosis which is called Hypno-psychotherapy. Hypnosis is a trance like state which everyone has the ability to enter. Everyday people slip into natural trance states when they become absorbed in watching television or reading a book, using a computer or even driving.
Hypnotherapy and psycho-therapy are treatments for mental and emotional problems which use hypnosis to help people. They work by lulling people into a state of relaxation, which in turn gives access to the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is the key that unlocks the door into the power to use your brains own bio-computer.
In hypnosis there is no question of being controlled or manipulated or even induced into a deep trance state. A person in hypnosis (often referred to as conscious hypnosis) is NOT asleep, they are often more aware of what is taking place than usual as there senses function more efficiently than normal. It would be impossible to make anyone doing anything they did not want to.
