🎃 Option 1 - Slow & Steady!

A gentle transition is an great choice for a lot of us. Bedtime will slowly creep later for several days before the clocks officially go back back.

👻Start by adjusting nap and bedtimes by 10-15 or so minutes about 4 to 7 days before. They will hopefully be fully adjusted by Sunday night when the clocks have turned back

🎃Option 2 - Fly by the seat of your pants!

If you don't want to or have forgotten to prep, just go with with it!

👻Change the clocks back an hour before you go to bed on Saturday night, wake up on Sunday morning (crossing fingers and toes that the kids sleep in a little longer) and adjust the schedule immediately to the new time. If your baba is adaptable this may work quite well!

That time again! The clocks are going forward this weekend 🥳

🌼A slow and steady transition is an excellent choice for families if you want your baba to stay on the same schedule as they are now
🌼 Bedtime will slowly creep 10-15 minutes earlier for the next few days before the clocks officially change (from tonight is perfect)
🌼 With these adjustments, hopefully baba will wake up the following morning at the same time as they normally would
🌼Example - baba normally goes to bed at 8pm and wake at 8am. If you adjust bedtime so they will be going to bed at 7pm on Saturday night, but with the clock change, their wake time will be still 8am
🌼 Pre bedtime routine, as always, is super important ie no screen time, quiet playtime and try and close your curtains/blinds at least an hour before they are due to go to sleep, to help with the production of melatonin
🌼 Black out blinds work really well, not only for ensuring your baba’s sleep space is dark enough to help them go to sleep, it stops the light coming in too early in the morning too ☀️

Winter solstice coming up ❤️

Newgrange - 5,200 year old passage tomb, built by stone age farmers who would have prospered in the rich lands of the region. It is aligned with the rising sun on the mornings during the Winter Solstice. Why or how these early farmers built the tomb in such a way is still a mystery. A quiet and calm sleep space for our baba’s is very important, especially this time of year when it’s so bright at bedtime🌞

Our baba’s can be completely overwhelmed and overstimulated by the end of the day, so it is important that we have their sleep space and living space as calm and restful as possible before sleep times to help promote a restful sleep:

✨ calm interiors
✨ recommended temperature is 16-20 degrees Celsius - temp guide to follow!
✨ proper nightwear
✨ a dark room
✨good airflow - try and open the windows everyday
✨minimise the amount of toys and flashing lights in their sleep space
✨ white noise - more about this to follow too!

“When pregnant, the cells of the baby migrate into the mothers bloodstream and then circle back into the baby, it’s called “fetal-maternal microchimerism”.⁠
For 41 weeks, the cells circulate and merge backwards and forwards, and after the baby is born, many of these cells stay in the mother’s body, leaving a permanent imprint in the mothers tissues, bones, brain, and skin, and often stay there for decades. Every single child a mother has afterwards will leave a similar imprint on her body, too.
Even if a pregnancy doesn't go to full term or if you have an abortion, these cells still migrate into your bloodstream.
Research has shown that if a mother's heart is injured, fetal cells will rush to the site of the injury and change into different types of cells that specialize in mending the heart.
The baby helps repair the mother, while the mother builds the baby.
How cool is that?
This is often why certain illnesses vanish while pregnant.
It’s incredible how mothers bodies protect the baby at all costs, and the baby protects & rebuilds the mother back - so that the baby can develop safely and survive.
Think about crazy cravings for a moment. What was the mother deficient in that the baby made them crave?
Studies have also shown cells from a fetus in a mothers brain 18 years after she gave birth. How amazing is that?”
If you’re a mom you know how you can intuitively feel your child even when they are not there….Well, now there is scientific proof that moms carry them for years and years even after they have given birth to them.
I find this to be so very beautiful.
