A little while ago I was talking to one of my clients — a Mexican woman I absolutely adore and hadn’t seen in a long time. I was telling her about a new client I recently had.

She told me she doesn’t believe in skincare at all. Her entire routine? Removing her makeup with wet wipes and occasionally putting on sunscreen… but only when she goes on vacation.

Then she said: “Look, you and I are the same age and we look the same. That just proves skincare is basically a waste of money.”

But here’s the funny part…
She’s 28. And I’m 44.

So yes, I do believe in skincare. Especially the kind that comes from knowledge, consistency, and treating your skin with the respect it deserves.

A veces necesitamos pausar el ruido del mundo para volver a nosotros mismos, recordar quiénes somos y quiénes queremos ser.
En el mes de concientización sobre la endometriosis, quiero compartir algo desde el corazón: aunque esta enfermedad algunos días me golpea fuerte, no permito que me defina. Tampoco dejo que la toxicidad del mundo ni mis propios errores definan mi historia.
Cada día elijo levantar la cabeza, seguir luchando y vivir de la manera en la que quiero ser recordada: con fuerza, con propósito y con amor por la vida.
Porque somos más que cualquier diagnóstico.
Somos resiliencia, esperanza y determinación. 💛

During Endometriosis Awareness Month, I want to share something from the heart: even though this disease hits me hard on some days, I never allow it to define me. I also refuse to let the toxicity of the world or my own mistakes define my story.

Living authentically means aligning your values, choices, behavior, and identity instead of performing for approval. It requires:
Self-awareness (knowing what you truly want and believe)
Integrity (acting consistently with that knowledge)
Emotional resilience (tolerating discomfort when others disapprove)
Criticism often intensifies when someone is visibly happy or confident.
There are a few psychological reasons for that:
Projection – Your happiness can highlight someone else’s dissatisfaction.
Norm disruption – When you don’t conform, it challenges group expectations.
Insecurity response – Authenticity signals confidence, which can trigger comparison.
The key distinction is this:
Constructive criticism evaluates behavior.
Insecure criticism attacks identity or joy.
Authenticity doesn’t mean ignoring all feedback. It means filtering feedback through your values instead of your fears.
A useful mental framework:
If the criticism aligns with your growth goals → evaluate it.
If it attacks your happiness or identity → detach from it.
Being authentic is not about being loud or rebellious. It’s about congruence. Your inner world matching your outer actions.
