Hank 🐾🤍

This 10-week-old St Bernard puppy had the whole clinic completely in love within seconds — and honestly, can you blame us?! 😍 He was an absolute angel from start to finish during his puppy check 💫

Hank came in to make sure he’s growing big, strong, and healthy — and he passed with flying colours (and plenty of cuddles along the way!) 🐶

✨ Fun facts about St Bernards:
🐾 They were originally bred as rescue dogs in the Swiss Alps
🐾 They’re famous for their incredible sense of direction and ability to find people in snow
🐾 They grow fast — this little fluffball will be HUGE before you know it!

Safe to say Hank made our day 💛

This 14-week-old Border Collie is as stunning as he is sweet — just look at that face! 😍 Storm popped in for his puppy check with Dr Fiona and absolutely stole the show.

During a puppy check, we make sure your little one is off to the best possible start by:
🐶 Checking eyes, ears, teeth, and heart
🐶 Monitoring growth and body condition
🐶 Discussing vaccinations and parasite prevention
🐶 Giving tailored advice on diet, training, and socialisation
🐶 Answering all your new puppy questions (we know there are lots!)

Storm passed his check with flying colours and plenty of tail wags 💫

I am very concerned about the new regulations proposed in the UK for vets and other animal professionals. The form given to fill in take 4 hours and does not encourage a balanced response. Please visit https://www.carolineingraham.com/veterinary-surgeons-act-consultation
For a better way to respond. You do not need to be living in the UK for to repond or for this to effect you and your freedom to seek complementary or alternative animal treatment

🐾 Buster’s Story of Healing 🐾

Meet Buster, a beautiful 4-year-old Labrador who reminded us just how powerful the body’s ability to heal can be.

Since April 2025, Buster had been suffering with seizures. His devoted family and veterinary team did absolutely everything they could to help him, exploring every treatment option available. By October, his owner felt his quality of life had sadly deteriorated despite everyone’s best efforts.

With hope for another path, his vets personally contacted us and asked if our holistic vet, Dr. Emily McAteer, could help.

Emily met Buster in mid-October 2025 for a full holistic consultation. After taking the time to understand Buster as a whole — his health history, behaviour, environment, and individual needs — she prescribed a carefully selected homeopathic remedy.

And something incredible happened.
From the moment Buster began his remedy, the seizures stopped.

Not one seizure.
Not one panic episode.

Fast forward to March 2026 and Buster is thriving. He’s back to being the happy, playful Labrador he was always meant to be — especially when he’s running along the beach with his 14-year-old Labrador brother, Teddy. 🐕🐕

Just months ago, his family feared they were nearing the end of his life. Today, Buster is living it fully again.

We are so grateful to Buster’s conventional veterinary team for everything they did for him and for trusting us to support his journey. True healing often comes when compassionate professionals work together.

Buster healed from within, and we couldn’t be happier for this special boy.

We love you, Buster. 💛

Shared with kind permission from Buster’s owner.

We’re proud to share this GoFundMe supporting the promotion of veterinary homeopathy.

In our own practice, our holistic vet Emily McAteer sees first-hand how much homeopathy can help animals — especially those with chronic and complex conditions. There is a huge demand from pet owners seeking holistic options, yet very few veterinarians currently offer it.

The International Association for Veterinary Homeopathy (IAVH) is committed to promoting homeopathy within the veterinary profession through education, awareness, and professional development.

If you believe animals deserve more treatment options, please consider donating or sharing this link. Every contribution truly helps. 🌿🐾

Ginger 🍊 the Dutch cross flop came in today for his final post-op check after his castration — and he was such a brave boy! 🐰✨ All healed and ready for cuddles and zoomies again.

Cute bunny facts:
• Rabbits jump and twist in the air when they’re happy — it’s called a binky 💛
• Their teeth keep growing, so they need lots of hay to chew 🌾
• When a rabbit flops onto their side, it means they feel safe and relaxed 🥰🐾

Well done, Ginger — top brave bun! 🐰🌟

Skye the superstar was back in on Monday for her nurse follow-up — and she brought all the fluff, fun, and fabulous vibes with her! 🐾✨

Did you know a German Shepherd × Husky mix (often called a Gerberian Shepsky) is the perfect blend of brains and beauty? 🧠💙
🐺 From the Husky side: striking eyes, endless energy, and that dramatic “woo-woo” personality.
🛡️ From the German Shepherd side: loyalty, intelligence, and a heart of gold.

That means Skye isn’t just gorgeous — she’s clever, courageous, and always ready for her next adventure (or treat 😉).

We loved seeing this bright-eyed beauty for her check-in. Stay pawsome, Skye! 🐶💫

Portmarnock Vets officially turns 13! 🎂

In human years that’s a teenager… in dog years we’re basically a wise old Labrador who still steals socks.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing clients who have trusted us with your furry patients. We’ve cuddled nervous puppies, negotiated with cats (they were in charge), treated heroic guinea pigs, and reassured many owners that yes… dogs really will eat absolutely anything🧦🍫

We’re also very proud to be a small independent clinic💘. It means you’ll see familiar faces, we know most patients by name (and a few by reputation…), and we can make decisions based on what’s best for each individual pet. Our care is holistic too 🐾,we don’t just treat symptoms, we look at the full picture: diet, comfort, behaviour and home life.

Behind the scenes is our little pack:
👩‍⚕️ 5 vets
💙 4 nurses
🐕 3 animal care assistants
📞 2 receptionists
📚 3 weekend student staff
…and approximately 10,000 shedded hairs per day.

We’re so grateful to be part of your pets’ lives — from first visits to senior snoozes and everything in between. Thank you for the tail wags, the slow blinks, the tiny paws on the consult table, and for trusting us to care for the members of your family who can’t tell you what’s wrong (but definitely can tell us when they’re unhappy about nail clips).💅

Here’s to many more years of happy, healthy pets — and to the patients who still pretend they’ve never met us the second they see the thermometer.🥲🌡️

With love (and a pocket full of treats),
Portmarnock Vet Clinic🐶🐱🐭🐹🐰

Inka did it! 🎉
After regular visits to our FREE weight clinics with Gemma, she has officially reached her target weight of 9kg — and we are SO proud of her! 🐾

With tailored advice, routine weigh-ins and her Hill’s Metabolic + Mobility dry food, Inka’s journey shows that steady, supported weight loss really works. Small changes over time can make a huge difference to your pet’s comfort, energy and happiness.

Why do we care so much about weight? Because obesity in dogs isn’t just cosmetic — it can seriously impact their health. Overweight pets are far more likely to suffer from:
• Arthritis and joint pain (extra strain on hips and knees)
• Diabetes
• Heart and breathing problems
• Reduced stamina and exercise intolerance
• Skin infections and poor coat condition
• Shorter life expectancy

Many owners don’t realise their dog is overweight until problems begin, and the good news is — it’s preventable and manageable with the right support.

Our weight clinics aren’t about judgement — they’re about helping you help your pet live a longer, more comfortable life ❤️

If you’d like Gemma to assess your pet’s body condition score, set a target weight and create a feeding plan tailored to them, just contact reception to book into the next clinic!

Because a healthy weight = a happier pet 🐶
