When someone tells you that you should try functional patterns

This is the only appropriate response

Calories in vs calories out yes but the quality and most importantly your bodies reaction to certain food can make a huge difference not just to weightloss but also to how you feel and how intense you can train

And yes I have 150gms of cocopops a day and my body loves it

Paul came to me about 18months ago
2yrs no movement loss of strength post stroke and completely locked in his body.
The first clip was about 4 weeks into strength work
He done 10 weeks with me and by then could squat with 15kg and deadlift 55kg....which is huge considering he was told he would never recover.
Today he is back home in South Africa with his family and training multiple times a week
He send me this video of him walking on the treadmill today.......
He lives a much fuller life now all because of strength.
Strength is never a weakness

So I'm back working in Kildare and looking to set up a group class in the evenings for the lads my age who I went to school with
We are getting a little bit older and some of us are getting a bit beat up from work life or inactivity.
Wanting to start a group of 4-5 to get you safely back into things and have a laugh while doing it
Message me if interested or send to anyone interested.
Any fitness level welcome.
Get us back fit and healthy

Losing 30kg has made me feel a lot better but strength has fallen where it matters most under a barbell.
The machines give me a false sense of security and false sense of strength. 6plates on a hack squat feels heavy build tissue but it doesn't build strength anything close to the barbell
275kg moved easy at big boy weight
210kg moved hard as little Graeme.

The real test is can I build the squat while leaner and smaller and less belly to help get me out of the bottom.

The squat builds my deadlift fast and I need to build it again

Thankfully I like a challenge

Gone
I could make some sob story but the reality was my own self care wasn't an issue for a long time
I got very very strong 180kg push press 320kg deadlift etc etc but everything else in life was hard.
I woke up one day with no plan no motivation joined the newbridge and just started increasing my workout load and daily cardio. Done 120 days unbroken to get the weight moving
Cut my calories to 3500 ( a deficit for me) I'd put on a lot of muscle while getting fat so I could eat a lot more and still be in a deficit.

Nothing extreme. Pushed 350gms of protein and carbs were high to fuel training.

I've another 11kg or so to go. Not there but well on my way

Most days I'm not motivated or excited to train but showing up is more important than motivation
Thanks to
for the constant support and advice

How to do a sn**ch grip deadlift
Chest up arms wide
Hips down
You round your back your weak and will p**s out energy
Lower the weight and keep your back straight

If you can't keep your back straight
Take an empty bar stand up straight push your hips back and hold the bar below the knee keeping chest up for 1 minute yes 1 minute you'll feel the weak muscles you need to strengthen

Looking after clients

No just breaking people down

Your job as a trainer is to understand what they need and provide it safely and at a pace that builds trust and helps them progress.
