Well before Covid hit two years ago, anxiety in children and adolescents was skyrocketing - presentations to Psychologists and GPs were increasing at an unprecedented pace. GPs can feel ill-equipped to deal with this at the best of time, and even more so now when face-to-face time at the surgery is at a premium. To try to address this in the short-term, and along with our Medical colleagues Dr. Colm Keane and Dr. Brian King, at Actualise Academy we have just published a ICGP-approved CPD course for GPs on "Anxiety in Children".
The course aims to give GPs quick tools to help children, parents and caregivers to manage anxiety, and to screen for other related issues. It can be done online at your own pace, and is approved by the Irish College of General Practitioners for 4 CPD points.
The course can be found at: https://www.actualiseacademy.com/p/gp-cpd-anxiety
What is normal and pathological anxiety, what and how to treat at Primary Care, when to refer on, and where to refer. Plus quick screening tools for autism.
