Bereaved Children’s Awareness week runs from today 17th to 23rd November.

Although death is a natural part of life, the death of a parent or sibling during childhood is not an expected part of development. Children miss the person who died and will experience grief that may come and go with different levels of intensity. We know that children who are grieving cope better when they have a strong, supportive relationship with the adults in their life. We can’t take away the pain of grief for children, but we can support them in their loss.

This Wednesday, in the restaurant in Blackrock, Wicklow and Harold’s Cross, we will have an information display table with resources and advice on how to support a child who is grieving.

Below is a link to free online Webinars which will run this week on the following topics:
• Supporting Parents: Bereaved Children and Young People – Neurodiversity
• Supporting Bereaved Children: An Open Evening for Parents & Carers
• Introduction to Cultural Competence in Bereavement Support
