Zeminar 2019: Thursday October 10th, 2019 was Global Mental Health Awareness Day and what a line up we had, in conjunction with PwC Ireland.

Dublin GAA star Shane Carthy joined Niamh Fitzpatrick and Fiona Brennan on stage for a powerhouse session in the afternoon.

Shane spoke of his crippling and at times terrifying experience with depression in the aftermath of Dublinโ€™s All-Ireland winning success of 2013, to breaking point a year later, aged only 19 and the rising star of the county under-21 team. With great honesty and bravery Shane charts the downward spiral which, days after producing a man-of-the-match display in Dublinโ€™s 2014 Leinster under-21 final win over Meath, saw him wake up in St Patrickโ€™s Mental Hospital.

Our first Zeminar 2019 talk is ready; click on the link in our profile ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

On her second visit to the Zeminar Main Stage, Niamh Fitzpatrick reflected on her personal journey through "awful" over the past few years.

In 2017 Niamh chose a very difficult and brave route when delivering her talk, having endured the most difficult year of her life she chose to face it straight on and share her story in the hope of inspiring the thousands of young attendees. On this occasion Niamh is every bit as brave, reflecting on the "awful", what it has taught her and with remarkable strength explaining the positives she has taken from it. This culminated in a spontaneous round of applause from the young audience as Niamh explained the physical impact of the stress and the body positive approach she has adopted as she "cracks on" with her life.

Once again a truly uplifting, encouraging and inspirational talk from someone whose words have the power to move the masses.

Niamh began her career in psychology by working with sports people, helping them to prepare mentally for optimum sports performance. One of the biggest roles in her early years was helping the 1996 Wexford Senior Hurling team to an epic win in the All Ireland Championship, bringing the Liam Mc Carthy cup back to Wexford for the first time in 28 years. Niamh has also worked with athletes from a wide range of other sports including the Irish team for 3 consecutive Olympic games.

In the Business World Niamh has carried out psychological training with people from all levels of business, from account managers and sales managers, to managing directors and small business owners. The aim of this work is to facilitate change in the business by training people in the cognitive and behavioural strategies that set the scene for optimum performance within an organisation.

Niamh also has over 14 yearsโ€™ experience on national radio having been a contributor to various shows on Today FM since 1994 including Anton Savage, Ray D'arcy and Neil Delamere. Niamh has also been the Performance and Life Coach on MummyPages.
