You could have heard a pin drop...
..when Norah Casey visited our branch this week and spoke straight from the heart to our volunteers.

Everyone in the room was completely drawn in and inspired by her journey.

We’re very grateful to Norah for giving her time so generously and sharing her story with our volunteers. 💚

Remember we're always here to listen on freephone 116 123.

Remembering Charlie Bird 💚

Today, we remember our good friend Charlie Bird.

An incredible supporter of Dublin Samaritans and advocate for mental health awareness. His generosity and commitment to extending a hand of friendship meant so much to our volunteers and community. Charlie is hugely missed.

Our thoughts are with his family today. We remember Charlie often and fondly.

His legacy and impact will be felt for generations to come.

Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.

Dublin Samaritans first opened its doors on 2 March 1970.

Today marks our 56th anniversary in Ireland. Wow!

It all began with a simple advertisement in the Irish Press calling for volunteers.

The response was truly remarkable.

Fast forward to today, and that spirit is still strong among our volunteers. 💚

From just over 1,000 contacts in our very first year (1970–71) to the 570,000 calls Samaritans receive for support today, the need has grown, and so has our community of dedicated volunteers.

We now have 300 amazing volunteers providing support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

It’s a privilege to be there for people during difficult moments. Sometimes, having someone simply listen can make all the difference.

If you’ve ever needed someone to talk to, we’re here.
