80th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences: Update

Together with our co-hosts the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain, we’ve regularly reviewed our congress plans alongside the evolving impact of COVID-19 around the world, the progress of national vaccination programmes and the emergence of variant strains.

As a result of our latest review, we have concluded that holding a congress this September would not be the right thing to do. We know that as many pharmacists as possible must continue to be available to patients and health systems under stress, and we would not wish to provide any means for the virus to spread.

We fully recognise the importance of continued knowledge and experience sharing and solidarity among our profession during this most challenging of times. Sad times ahead for patients in America.

Drugmakers including Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi plan to hike prices on more than 200 drugs in the United States on Wednesday, according to drugmakers and data analyzed by the health care research firm 3 Axis Advisors.

Great news for community Pharmacists in Ireland! Crazy that the government actually wanted to cut a sector which has already be cut so much in the past decade.

Thanks to pressure from the concerted effort of the IPU and pharmacists all over the country, the Government has agreed not to proceed with new cuts.

Crazy stuff!!

Walmart has been sued for medical fraud. In a lawsuit filed in the District of Columbia, the Center for Inquiry (CFI) alleges that Walmart is, “committing wide-scale consumer fraud and endangering the health of its customers though its sale and marketing of homeopathic medicines.”

Back home back in Ireland 🇮🇪 after attending the 42nd EPSA Annual Conference 2019 in Sofia Bulgeria. Thank you to everyone for an amazing EPSA AC. The RC, fantastic job, so organised and your promotion of the event was better than most professional pharmacy events I have attended, the EPSA team and all of the delegates, it was amazing because you are amazing.

Thank you to EPSA team for inviting me to be part of the EPSA board of trustees and to all of the OD's for voting me into the position. I feel very honoured and I am looking forward to helping EPSA with all the future challenges.

I think it is safe to say that the joint table of the UK and the Republic of Ireland was the best table at International night!
