Turning the Sod at Middletown Nursing Home Extension.

We were delighted to mark an important milestone this week with the official Turning of the Sod for the new extension at our nursing home, which will add 34 much‑needed bedrooms to support our growing community.

With thanks to the Cathaoirleach of Gorey-Kilmuckridge, Donal Kenny and Anita McLoughlin, District Manager for Gorey–Kilmuckridge for joining us.

Even though the rain poured, the smiles never faded. This ceremony represents more than just the start of construction, it reflects our ongoing commitment to improving our homes, supporting our teams, and above all, putting our residents first.

Here’s to the next chapter and to creating a warm, modern, and caring environment for those who call our home their home.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in Letter to an Elder Day. Your thoughtful messages truly made our residents feel special. 💌

A very special thanks to the wonderful students of Coláiste Íosagain in Portarlington, who went the extra mile by hand-delivering their letters the the residents of Oakdale Nursing Home.

You brought so many smiles, and there was a real buzz throughout the nursing home today. Your kindness means more than you know. 💚📬

Meet Ty — Our Morale Officer in Training! 🐾

If you’ve visited Dunboyne Nursing Home lately, you might have spotted a very important (and very furry) member of our team - Ty, an assistance dog in training from Dogs for the Disabled.

Ty spends a few days each week with us in the support office, where he takes his job very seriously…
✨ Boosting morale
✨ Demanding pets
✨ Politely requesting treats
✨ And reminding us to smile

He also loves popping down to the sitting rooms to say hello to our residents, who absolutely adore him. In fact, they adore him so much that convincing him to go home with his foster mum afterward is becoming a full-time job… especially when there are sandwich crusts involved! 🥪😂

We’re so grateful to be part of Ty’s training journey. He brings joy, comfort, and a lot of tail wagging to our home. 💚🐶💜

Our nursing homes are getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit, and the decorations are looking sweeter than ever! While our homes are filled with love and connection all year round, we always enjoy celebrating special moments together 💚

This week, many of our homes are also hosting special Valentine’s dinners, complete with delicious food, beautiful table settings, and even a couple of glasses of wine 🍷✨

It’s been wonderful to see residents enjoying the company, the atmosphere, and of course—the sweets! 💝🍬

Grief is a journey no one should have to walk alone 💚

For (26 Jan – 1 Feb), we want to remind our community that feeling the weight of loss is normal, but help is always here if you are struggling.

At Evergreen Care Nursing Homes, our staff are more than just caregivers; they are trained through the Caru programme. This is an initiative by the Irish Hospice Foundation, All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care and the HSE. It means our teams are specially trained to support both our residents and their families through every stage of loss with empathy and expertise.

On the 5th December Evergreen Care Nursing Home Group celebrated our 2nd Annual Employee of the Year awards to honour the incredible dedication and compassion of our team across all our homes. 💐

Hosted by Joanna Jacek, Borris Lodge Nursing Home Person in Charge, the event was attended by all our 2025 Employees of the Month, our Head of HR Emmet Duffy, CEO Eamonn Prone and COO Rosetta Herr as well as many other staff members, family, friends and residents.

To every staff member who consistently goes above and beyond - delivering exceptional care, showing tireless kindness, and making a real difference in the lives of our residents and their families - thank you. Your commitment is the heart of Evergreen Care. 💚

An unforgettable night at the Nursing Homes Ireland ! 🎉

We’re incredibly proud of our amazing team, with multiple staff members nominated, and a special congratulations to Mamie Dunne, who won the first-ever Olivia Slater Administrator of the Year Award. Mamie is the admin from Oakdale Nursing Home keeping everything running smoothly and does it all with a smile! 🏆

Being recognised on a national stage highlights the dedication, compassion, and excellence our staff show every single day. It was a wonderful evening spent celebrating the outstanding individuals who make our nursing homes such special places, by going above and beyond to deliver exceptional care and support to our residents, their commitment, kindness, and hard work are at the heart of everything Evergreen Care Nursing Home do. 💚
