The people of Ukraine will have many needs in the coming months and years. The most pressing priority at this stage of the emerging catastrophe is to ensure physical safety, and to meet other basic needs such as food, shelter, and access to medicines.

Anxious? Stressed...? 😫
What can help is to slooooow things down.
β›”
Tune in to your body.
Pay attention to what's going on physically.
There's information there to guide us.
βœ‹
Our body will tell us when we're stressed.
Our body will tell us if we're anxious.
Our body will tell us that something isn't right.
IF WE'RE LISTENING!
πŸ‘‚
So, from today, start listening.
Start paying attention.
Tune. In.
Daily.
πŸ€”
How's my heart rate?
How's my breathing?
How's my stomach?
Am I tense anywhere?
πŸ€”
Get to know your body.
Understand how it works.
Recognise the signals.
So you know when you need to act.
πŸ‘Š
Practice this a couple of times a day.
Link it to something easy, ike meals, sitting down to your desk, every time you switch on the kettle.
Then you know what to look for if / when something changes.
πŸ‘
Slow down.
Tune in.
Pay attention.

Reset.
Go a different way.
Try something else.
Rejig.
Do a 180.
Amend.
Plan B.
Plan Z.
Something not working doesn't mean YOU'RE not working.
Don't get stuck in a rut.
Don't keep knocking if it's already locked.
Reset, and find the right door.

Go easy on yourself today.
Stay present.
βœ‹
Right now, how are things?
What can I change, or make better?
What do I need to accept, or let go?
Small questions, but big impacts.
πŸ‘Š
Pick one thing and work on it, if you need to.
But ease up on the worry.
Wind down the guilt.
You're doing FINE.

A great way to start the New Year is to do a good ol clear out, a proper de -clutter.
When we get rid of the excess in our lives, we can start to see things more clearly - whether that's our finances, our time, our physical surroundings - it can be anything.
It makes everything easier.
Decision making, planning, taking action - everything is easier when it's less crowded, less "busy", more clear.
Start with your email.
Take 10 minutes & unsubsribe from every site that wants you to spend money.
All the lists you're on since Black Friday, get RID.
in one fell swoop you'll save time, headspace AND money.
Win win!
Then look around you, & see what else you can de-clutter.
Maybe it's WhatsApp groups.
Maybe it's FB accounts that leave you feeling inadequate.
One thing at a time, start to clear them out.
Give yourself the gifts of space & clarity in 2022.
What a great way to start your year πŸ€—
Comment below what you're going to de-clutter & we can inspire & help each other get stuff DONE!

If I could wish anything for you for 2022 it would be that you'd take on these 5 goals & make them part of your life.
πŸ‘Š
These are the 5 key practices / beliefs that I've seen make the biggest difference in transforming people's lives in my 10 years work as a Psychotherapist.
🧠
If you take these on, working through them one at a time, you will see things change for the better.
πŸ™Œ
Are you doing any already?
Is there anything you'd add to the list?

As numbers surge, one of the biggest difficulties often isn't Covid, its dealing with friends &/ family who just don't seem to care.

They might try & ignore our decisions & actions (even though they're based on valid, and public health REQUESTED recommendations!)
😱
They might try & persuade, wheedle, guilt-trip, plΓ‘mΓ‘s their way into your house, or to changing your mind.
🀯
This 4 step strategy will help you not get sucked into their persuasiveness or persistence.
πŸ€œπŸ€›
They won't be there picking up the pieces if anyone gets sick, or misses something important because of isolating.

You. Do. You.

In times of stress, our primitive brain tends to focus on the negative (thinking it's protecting us from potential "threat")
🧠
Great if we're actually in imminent danger, not so good if it's just our mind wandering into catastrophising or worst-case-scenario-ing.
😫
To counteract this tendency, listen to your thoughts, & remember-
JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK IT, DOESN'T MEAN IT'S TRUE.
😯
Think about how you think.
How many of your worries have turned out to be true?
How accurate were your negative predictions?
πŸ€”
This simple act of reflection, of trying to work something out, engages the rational part of the brain.
It brings the focus away from just the negativity, & includes the good & helpful information too.
Try it the next time you're stressed - pause, and then be curious about your thoughts.
β›”πŸ€”
Watch the difference doing this will make😁
