We were delighted to be part of the official opening 20 years ago. A special moment now was looking back at four familiar faces from Carriglea Cáirde Services — David, Hughie, Liam K, and Liam M — given the honour of cutting the ribbon. It was a lovely surprise to see them all looking so well.

We fondly remember Liam K, who sadly passed away in 2023. Seeing him in full flight in the photo was a touching reminder of our dear friend and the joy he brought to those around him.

Congratulations to Movies at Dungarvan on this milestone — here’s to many more years of success! 🎉🍿

We were delighted to host a “Changing Gears” workshop, delivered by the amazing Brian Dooney, which ran for 5 consecutive weeks. 🗓️

These workshops were designed to boost wellbeing and resilience for individuals in their older years, with a focus on managing transitions in mid to later life. They support people in navigating life changes, helping participants develop skills and techniques to build confidence and resilience, and reframe transitions as opportunities for positive growth, challenging negative stereotypes about ageing. 💪✨

Age & Opportunity, the national organisation behind this initiative, works to empower older people through physical activity, arts, creativity, personal development, and active citizenship. Their vision is an Ireland where older age is recognised as a time of opportunity, and all older people can be active, visible, creative, connected, and confident. ❤️

They work across three key areas:
🎨 Arts Programme – Engaging in arts and cultural activities
🏃 Active Programme – Promoting participation in recreational sport and physical activity
🤝 Engage Programme – Offering courses and workshops for personal development, community collaboration, and active citizenship

Brian delivered the workshop in a fun, personable, and charismatic way, and both our service users and staff really enjoyed it – they were even a bit sad to see it finish! 😄👏

A huge thank you to Brian for such a fun and interactive workshop! 🙌

We are all devastated to hear of the unexpected passing of our dear colleague and friend Molly O’Mahony.

Molly was an example of compassion and kindness to all those she supported and worked alongside.

Molly had a natural gift to make people feel seen and valued, and was always the first to lend a hand and offer words of encouragement.

Molly helped to create a culture of kindness and warmth, just by being herself.

Molly will be remembered with deep gratitude and affection by all who worked with her and those she supported.

We offer our sincerest condolences to her parents, Michael & Marie, and her sister, Hannah.

As a mark of respect our community based day service operations will be closed on Wednesday the 17th September 2025.
