Ollie’s Bar West U21B Hurling Championship Semi-Final
Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams: 0-23 (23)
Eire Og/Emly: 0-8(8

Francis Coughlan at Pairc Ciocaim, Dundrum

Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams booked their place in this years Ollies Bar West U21B Hurling Championship Final when they saw off a spirited Eire Og/Emly challenge at Pairc Ciocaim, Dundrum on Sunday afternoon. While Eire Og/Emly battled hard all over the field Kickhams had that bit more in attack where they were able to make the ball stick and with Sean Mackey, Adam Daly and Shane Buckley pulling the strings they ran out comfortable winners. The combination on the other hand struggled from open play and were reliant on DJ Lepold from placed balls.

While Eire Og/Emly playing into the railway end did take a brief lead in the opening minute through a DJ Lepold free it was Kickhams who took early charge of the scoreboard. Adam Daly, Evan Slattery, Senan Mackey and Philly O’Neill helped them open a six point to one advantage by the tenth minute. Aided by DJ Lepold’s accuracy from placed balls the combination did bring the difference back to four as the half progressed. Points from Adam Daly and another Evan Slattery frees had the home side ahead, 0-12 to 0-6 at the break.

Similar to the first half the combination got the first score of the half when Liam Crosse getting their only score from play. Scores were slow to come by but Evan Slattery’s placed balls and another from Shane Buckley brought their tally to fifteen by the tenth minute. Kickhams really pushed on after this with wing back Brian Furlong getting on the scoreboard while Senan Mackey, Shane Buckley and Adam Daly added to their accounts. Kickhams running out comfortable victors and will now meet Cappawhite Gaels in the final.
