β¨ Today, Tuesday 6 January, marks the final day of the Christmas season, known in Ireland as Nollaig na mBan (Womenβs Christmas or Little Christmas) π
Following Twelfth Night, the day traditionally recognises the work women carried out over the Christmas period π It was a time for women to rest and relax β while household duties were traditionally taken over by men π§Ή
The day also coincides with the Christian Feast of the Epiphany β¨, commemorating the visit of the Three Wise Men to Bethlehem πππ In Irish tradition, Christmas decorations were kept in place until this day, when they were finally taken down πβ‘οΈ marking the true end of the festive season.
