Connecting to Your Irish Roots

Connors Cottage Retreat is nestled in the beautiful rural countryside of Co. Roscommon, with infinite unspoiled vista's and starlit skies it’s where Mother Nature whispers the secrets of the Universe for everyone to hear.

Connors Cottage Retreat was the home place of my grandparents Lawrence & Elizabeth Connor. They raised ten children in this two bed cottage only to see eight of them fly the nest to England. I often see my grandmother at the back door of the cottage looking in the distance with only hope in her mind that all her children are safe & well. Not far from the cottage is evidence of a hearth that once warmed the occupants of a small herder’s cottage, this was the home of my great grandparents. According to the census of 1901 my great great grandparents once farmed and herded on this small plot of land as well.

Within each generation at least ten children were born, some not surviving childhood or adolescence from illnesses & disease which is so easily cured in modern day society. Most of those who survived emmigrated to far off lands through famine & hardship with dreams of a better future for themselves.

The cottage is alive today with story’s of olden times that can help you see into the future and the surrounding countryside, is abundant in nature for you to understand and to be in the present of your journey through life.
