PALS Autism Support Group

PALS Autism Support Group PALS is a group of volunteers supporting autistic people and their families. We run events throughout the year including summer activities & family days.

We include the whole family to lesson isolation. We also run numerous coffee mornings and workshops PALS autism support group is based in Loughrea, Co Galway. We support our members with meet ups in the form of coffee mornings monthly. Evening meet ups once a month. We organise activities for our members. We advocate for our members around service provision. We advocate around transitioning services for children turning 18 into adulthood. We have liased with Irish Wheelchair Association to ensure services locally for our age 18 + yrs. We are affiliated with Arch Clubs and DFI ( Disability Federation of Ireland). We also have a private Facebook group for our members only, which regularly posts up dates on our activities and a private WhatsApp group. We can be contacted by email palsgroup20@gmail.com

Information:

'This research study will be done by conducted focus groups with children aged 7-12, both with autism and without autism, as well as with the parents/caregivers of participating children. Each focus group is approximately 45 minutes long, and care will be given to ensure that the children’s focus group is fun and engaging for participants, including fun activities as a part of our data collection.

As per the attached recruitment flyer, the aim of this study is to find out if children (with and without autism) believe the Wong Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale (a black and white face-based pain rating scale, attached to this email for reference) would be more understandable/ easier to use if it had colours, and if so, which colours they believe should be used'.

Our 4th PALS Sensory Santa took place yesterday at the Lough Rea Hotel & Spa. It was a pleasure to welcome our members and their families to enjoy some festive fun, play some games, crafts and treats with us.. and of course meet the big man himself!
