Hello, I’m Marie. I am the Owner & Founder of Marie's Counselling & Supervision. I'm a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor since 2004 working with a wide range of clients in Console, Pieta, Irish Online Counselling & Psychotherapy Service and at my Private Practice, Marie’s Counselling & Supervision. I also am a qualified Counsellor Supervisor since 2020. I’m accredited with the IACP (Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I’m a genuine human being who is kind and friendly towards others. I find it a pleasure and a privilege to journey with my clients. And I believe in all of us there is a little seed of hope and spirit that I can help to grow.

I started my journey as a Medical Scientist with a Masters Qualification in Biochemistry and an Acupuncturist but then I changed career to a Psychotherapist and Counsellor Supervisor, and I love every minute of it and have no regrets ever since.

I work with all ages (U18 & O18), Individuals and Couples and Families and all Mental Health Issues or Problems but mainly specialise in: Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Self-Harm, Personal Development, Panic Attacks, Grief, Su***de Intervention, Su***de Bereavement, Bereavement, Relationship Issues, Abuse Issues, Domestic Abuse, Stress, Stress Related Concerns and Trauma Events but mainly a Place to Talk and be Heard with NO JUDGEMENT.

As well as being a Psychotherapist and Counsellor, I'm also a Trained and Qualified Counsellor Supervisor providing Counsellor Supervision for Psychotherapists and Counsellors. I would view Counsellor Supervision as a collegial relationship with the sole purpose of supporting the Supervisee in their work with clients.

I’m a competent, hard – working, honest, kind, professional with a calm, friendly disposition and I bring this into the Therapy Session. I possess a high standard of work ethic in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Counsellor Supervisor and a genuine commitment to client's mental health. I’m a professional who has gained varied experience in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Counsellor Supervision over the past number of years.

I work with a Client Based Module, Confidentiality, and the Code of Ethics.

Today marks a very special day, which many of us have some connection too. A sad reality is we all know of someone who has passed away from cancer. Sadly, I've had two close family bereavements to cancer in the last few months. Also, my dear Mum, passed away from bowel cancer nearly 8 years ago now.

World Daffodil Day, is a day to remember our loved ones who have passed away, recognise all those brave fighters who have fought cancer and also to sympathised with those currently battling the vicious disease.

No matter which cancer support company you donate too, the funds go back into the people. Recently, I have also been working in close association with the terrific team at Tuam Cancer Care. I'm part of their counselling team, providing free counselling to those clients closely affected by cancer.
I strongly encourage everyone to donate in some way back to cancer today, it could be simply buying an artificial daffodil brooch in the shop.
